Today I came home from brunch with Mom and found my kitchen covered in potting soil. Goddess and Max apparently had a blast while I was out. I saw this post on Facebook and I'm just happy we have Bulldogs and not Huskies! https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=645255934313232&id=100064864921101&mibextid=Nif5oz

Apparently one of the girls.left their squishmallow out. The dogs have obliterated the colorful, funky, squishy thing. Oh joy.

Goddess is home! Marcus Robinson owns Giniaboy Kennels and he certainly did an amazing job when he produced this girl.

This is so important! We keep nail clippers on hand. We realize that not only are owners leary of clipping nails in fear of getting the quick, but that it's also difficult with wiggly and unwilling dogs. There are a ton of options available to owners, so we urge everyone to find ways to keep their dogs nails trimmed down. Today we will be grinding a few ourselves.

I think it's safe to say that Max loves the fireplace

It's not often we discuss the lowest lows of raising bulldogs. We've given ourselves some time before posting this update, as it is truly heartbreaking and painful.

As many of you know Lucy-Lou (Goose) was bred to one of Port City's beautiful studs and we were so excited expecting this litter.
Goose was perfectly round (she was a potato anyway, but with being bred she was enormous).
Goose was uncomfortable on day 53- the evening of January 3rd, she was excessively thirsty and appeared even larger than normal. Right after we went to bed I heard a strange sound, turned on my phone flashlight and she was seizing right next to our bed. I screamed, tried helping her -I will save the details, but she passed away. We lost all 8 pups and our beautiful, protective, loving, loyal girl. It's been hands down the most devastating experience we've had with our dogs.

We'd like to thank our fellow breeders for their thoughtfulness and compassion in supporting us through the loss.

Our program has been structured on partnering with well-established and renowned breeders around the Country to gain knowledge, a variety of quality dogs and practice selective breeding to meet the standards we have set for ourselves. We don't breed often, although we have several gorgeous girls.

Our first real litter was Roxy's back in July and we had chosen Max to keep as a future Stud not only for his impeccable structure and personality but also because he would be able to reproduce with any of our girls except Roxy because he's from an entirely different genetic line. Lily never found a home, the economy and several other factors had a terrible impact on many breeding programs and we were lucky to only have one little butterball that didn't find a home.
Roxy and Diesel's cost of ownership still has an outstanding balance that will be paid off within the next couple of months and in the future we will hopefully have more news to share on their reproductive journey.

We skipped breeding cycles on Roxy, Mystique, Nova, Ruby and Faith as we were watching so many breeders struggling to home their litters and part of being responsible in this industry is largely about the duty we have to the lives we create- arguably the largest responsibility next to owning breeding dogs and providing for their care. We are acutely aware of the resources required and time to invest in the bulldog family we have.

Not only has the loss of Goose had a terrible impact emotionally on us, it's provided us with pause. Everything happens for a reason. In my personal experience those reasons aren't often revealed in anything other than future experiences. This pause will serve to have more thorough testing done on our lines, DNA Heath testing completed on each of our dogs to have concrete genetic compatability as well as an idea of potential coat colors of what they'll produce. (Genetics in color and pattern is profoundly confusing and we are still learning so much!) Any home that aquires one of our future babies will also have their parents DNA reports on hand along with their Pedigrees.

Our Kennel building is still at this time the very top priority on our to-do list. We haven't given up (even as aggravating as dead beat contractors are who never get a quote back to you after wasting precious time) and are blessed to have acquaintances that are able to assist in the foundation process. The building is designed so that we are able to still have group and individual time with our dogs, but they'll each have their own space that's more functional as well as accessible.

We are still helping other breeders at this time- so please follow along with updates on their litters and of course puppy pics! Goddess and Hazel will be coming home soon as co-owns and Miss Annie will join us as we are a host home as well.

Life's trials and pain can serve to build or break us. It's still up to us on which of those happen. We love our Goosey girl and will see her again over that Rainbow Bridge.

A very special thank you to all of our followers, supporters and MMK family. Much love ❤️

Collosus 2 weeks old

22/12/2022

When you're sitting on the floor next to your bulldog as she feeds her babies and eating cheezits- you share them with her one at a time of course! Rogue was so cute chewing them slowly and taking them so gently. It was as if she was savoring each one...but in all honesty I keep feeding her so she's probably just full!

This adorable little guy is Collosus, son of Rogue and Sherman. He's a Blue and white ghost merle. Only 2 days old. He's very active and was not about to stay still for pictures.

We have reserved this beauty from Giniaboy Kennels. She's going to be a show stopper! She's 4 weeks old now, she will be coming home in a month! Give us all of your name suggestions.

Rogue had her pups! She had 3, 2 lilac and white females and one blue and white male. The first female was big and had water on her. We had her on oxygen, tried glucose, suctioning etc but we lost her this afternoon.
We are forever grateful for Dr. Bart Miller with Crossroads West Animal Clinic who answered the call shortly before midnight, called in his assistant and was able to perform the c-section around 1 a.m.
Without his intervention all pups and possibly Rogue would have been lost.
We are also so grateful to Giniaboy Kennels Marcus Robinson for your guidance and for helping us on this journey. From recommending Dr. Miller, working with us to breed Rogue to Sherman and even sending links of supplies that have worked well for you- Thank you!! Your advice and experience has proven invaluable for our program.
We look forward to building on the professional and personal relationships we have established with our fantastic network of Bully people.
Thank you to all of our followers and families that have MMK babies to love on.
