On this day in 1939, Lou Gehrig benched himself “for the good of the team,” ending his consecutive games played streak at 2,130. Here’s my painting of the great man that chilly afternoon, watching his teammates warm-up before their game at Briggs Stadium in Detroit.

Jim Otto….
Hall of Fame center that wore that helmet in the 60s and 70s when football was extremely more physical than today.. A true bad ass, at 255 pounds played 210 consecutive games!

This is not the way for government to
Act.
Lack of public input and no communication within the commissioners themselves.
Appalling!!!!

St. Joseph County commissioners approve the proposed district map, 2-1.

Derek Dieter, County Commissioner District 2, made a motion to postpone the vote until next week because of a lack of public input and short notice. It failed when the other two commissioners didn’t second the motion. Alternative maps were also shot down.

The map goes to the state for final approval.

Great job by the residents of New Carlisle for standing up for what is right

Welcome to politics in St Joe County.
And these were Republicans….

St. Joseph County Commissioners approve a new redistricting map (on the right) by a 2-1 vote. Critics say it segregates minority communities, while ignoring public input. Proponents want a map that more evenly distributes population.

The lone dissenting vote is from Derek Dieter, County Commissioner District 2.

“The role of government officials is to listen to that and then make a decision. But in my mind, the two people up there, they were already going to vote, how they're gonna vote," Dieter said. "My sense is when you ask for public input, you ask for people's own maps. And they do, and they come here and express overwhelmingly, they're against it, and the two other commissioners said, Cool. We're still voting this way.”

Commissioners have to vote on the map again, next week, before it goes to the state for final approval. The County Council is asking for a public discussion about redistricting tomorrow at 4pm in the lobby of the County City Building.

To my amazing family, friends, donors, and supporters. I cannot thank you enough for your words of encouragement, the time and effort Team Dieter took going door to door to reach voters, posting signs in your yards, producing interview videos and newspaper ads, and all other efforts that led to an amazing victory. Your time helping me reach voters was key to a win by only 964 votes. Going into the election in March, I was already behind 5,052 votes as a Republican based on previous election results. Because of the campaigns generous donors, as well as dozens of volunteers, we were able to implement a remarkable campaign plan. Words cannot express my gratitude and appreciation for all of you.

My primary focus over the next four years will be exactly what I said over and over again during my campaign…you. Streamlined government, lower taxes, the 911 Center, responsible growth in New Carlisle and Olive Township, and overall a SMART and COMMON-SENSE approach to decision-making. I look forward to representing you, regardless if you voted for me or not, because we are all in this community together. Please do not hesitate to call me with any questions and concerns. And once again, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.

We do not know when the final vote count will happen, but will keep everyone informed through FB. Once again, I can not thank you enough for your support.

When asked what is best for St. Joseph County, my opponent uses a story about dinner with a hidden message towards DEMOCRATIC SOCIALISM. He is NOT talking literally about food and feeding the hungry. What is best is to have cool, calm representatives getting out and LISTENING to our constituents!

28/10/2020

My opponent stated his #1 priority, NUMBER ONE, is BIGGER GOVERNMENT and RELOCATING THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT. That equates to HIGHER TAXES! It wasn't safety and security, lower taxes, or the 911 Center or IEC! Unbelieveable! PEOPLE FIRST!
