Here is an extra special bonus treat. Probably the largest promotional offering I have for this event. This is first cassette of live recordings from Q***r Two Year of legendary SF via UK DJ Markie Mark. Known these days as MRK. Mark’s DJ journey started back in Cambridge with the Tonka Sound System, alongside Harvey, Choci, Rev and the people that would eventually form the foundational San Francisco party Wicked.
This recording is from 1995. Right as house/rave culture was reaching its Golden Age zenith. Not sure if the mix was recorded out of the mixer, or out of the PA board. I did not make the recording. Either way, it’s a pretty solid sounding recording. This tape has never been widely available for listening, previously available to only a few. After nearly 28 years, it deserves to be set free.
Personal anecdote. There had been a song on a Markie tape that Yasu owned, that I tried for a long time to trainspot. There was no tracklist, and was instrumental, without a strong melody hook. So it took what seems like years (perspective on time changes), but then Eric stumbled across the song and told me what it was. So when Markie came to town, I told him about it. He didn’t have the record with him, but asked to borrow a copy from me. So a couple of songs from the end of the first side here, he plays my copy of a Debbie Harry dub.

It’s Thursday you know what to do !

Hey My friends . I have been trying to get some assistance . We have Been asking the community to donate small items tooth brushes toiletries feminine hygiene products socks etc that can fit inside a brown paper lunch bag . As many of you know I run small humble lawn care business that allows me to drive all over our amazing city throughout the day . Because I’m driving from one end to the other I see all types of people in need . I prep and organize these items for distribution from my truck . At stop lights under bridges etc . It allows me to help so many even for a short time the receiver smiles and might have a clean pair of un**es or some sanitizer. You remember what it feels like to put in a pair of new socks ? Well imagine what it’s like to not have any for extreme amounts of time . That one simple offering could completely change a persons day and then in return may very well go do something for them selves that is positive . A little love goes a long way for so many of these people . Its not alway addiction it’s not always mental health and even if it is so what . An addict has no choice but to stay well and if you have ten bucks for toothpaste socks and a bottle of water it’s going to the addition. I do not judge anyone in any of these circumstances a human is a human and we are all not perfect in any way . .
Let me cut to the point here im not sure if I’m promoting my intentions very well or maybe anyone who is interested in helping has seen any of my posts . So here I am letting everybody know that every Thursday night from 10-12 midnight your able to deliver any of these said items to My residence House call At No Requests. If your unable to make that drop off time im available to meet you in person with a date and time . If anyone else in the promo and club community that would like to get involved and help we all could use it . I will make getting these items easy for you . Thanks in advance .
