On April 4th, HHP students collaborated with Hamann’s Helping Hands to host a Sunset Stroll 5k with all proceeds going towards the Hammann's Helping Hands Charity.
The Charity works to provide presents to children in the hospital during the holidays.

What is Hamann's Helping Hands Foundation?

Hamann's Helping Hands Foundation is a non-profit organization that was founded in the fall of 2022 where we decided to make it our mission to ensure that every child who spends Christmas in the hospital, receive the best Christmas possible!

This organization was inspired from a life challenge that was put in front of my family, myself and most importantly, my older brother. At the age of 16, my brother was diagnosed with a very rare form of bone cancer called, Ewings Sarcoma in November of 2016. As it was shocking for my entire family, the doctors put together a plan to act fast! With lots of emotions all over the place, Joseph, my brother, was scheduled to have a treatment that would carry through Christmas. Being a close-knit family and spending Christmas at home each year, this was definitely very emotional for everyone.

With help from extended family and the wonderful staff at St. Mary's Children's Hospital and Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, they made Christmas feel the best that it could for my brother and our entire family.

Fast forward 2 years and many treatments later, my brother was cancer free, but was in need of a bone marrow transplant. The doctors informed us that they would test immediate family first before checking the donor registry. Thanks to the Lord above, I was a perfect match to my brother and was given the opportunity to donate my bone marrow to my brother! My DNA is now his DNA!

After getting to college and earning my way onto a NCAA College baseball roster, I found that giving it your best go and working hard will help your dreams come true. I was in search of finding a way for my family and I to give back to Mayo Clinic and help other Children get an even better experience that we got! After consulting with a mentor of mine, she helped me structure my idea together to start this Non-Profit Foundation!

Myself and my brother currently have a team that runs a year-round campaign called, "Christmas Cures" where we raise funds for our event in Rochester. We hold an annual Golf outing in July and accept donations year-round to make this all possible and to continue to grow the organization!

We serve 1 hospital yearly and are looking to double for next year! In the 2 short years of operation, we have been able to raise close to $50,000 to help these wonderful children and their families during the holiday season!
