Another day, another John pack.

Repetition can either add skepticism or evidence. It’s important you know which one you’re building in your life.

Maybe the gap is the proof they need to see that they haven’t moved, and hopefully the inspiration they need to push forward.

Maybe you’re afraid of failure, or maybe you’re just afraid to look like one.

I’m learning that the only true failure is failing to show up, because I’d rather fail in public than quit in private.

Here’s your reminder to keep showing up ✌🏽

I think I’m starting to like this running thing.

S/O to the team for a weekend for the books.

Every time we refuse to forgive ourselves we get a glimpse of what life would look like if we were our own Gods.

Only allowing joy when our performance measures up.

Our self-love is never perfect.

His love is.

It’s easy to take pride in our ability to judge our own ideas.

We think we know which ones are gonna perform the best and get the best reception.

The reality is, we don’t.

But that’s good news...kind of.

The only way to know is to let them go.

Maybe nobody will care, or like it, or give the feedback you were hoping for.

Or

Maybe you’ll help someone. Maybe you’ll help yourself. At the very least, you’ve made space for newer, fresher, better ideas to come.

The freedom is not being your own gatekeeper, but getting rid of the gate altogether.

And as said..UNLOAD THE CLIP. 🔫

Because I’m unloading mine.

I’m learning that I can be all that I am.

While my complexities bother some people, it just means I require effort. It means understanding me won’t be easy.

No I won’t pick a lane. No I won’t shrink for you. Don’t waste your box on me.

If you’re for me, you’ll make room for me. All of me.

Your desire for simplicity will cause you to say things to me that might make me question all that I am, as if I was too much.

As if God’s creation was for only you to consume.

I’m not for everybody and that’s okay. At least I’m learning that it is.

For some reason I felt compelled to go to George Floyd’s memorial tonight.

When I got there, I was met with a sense of hope I haven’t felt all week.

People were performing spoken word, some barbecuing, some dancing, and I saw so many parents who brought their kids.

My Pastor said something today that brought this home.

“There’s something human about us that tells us we have to look towards the hope”.

I believe that.

And to be honest, I don’t have enough energy to look towards anything else.

I know it hurts, but keep hoping.

What if I told you that the peace you’re looking for is on the other side of the conflict you’re avoiding?

And by conflict I mean any two things that oppose one another.

For example, let’s say you have a friend who isn’t meeting your expectations and being there for you the way you’d like them to.

Is the conflict between you and your friend? Or is the conflict between you and your fear to be honest with them about your expectations.

Trust me, I know it’s hard! But you deserve peace, and if that means conflict, then so be it.

Your peace is worth it.

Sometimes life with God feels unfair.

That’s because it is.

For the longest time I tried to run my race alone.

I thought I could run further and faster if I didn’t have anyone else to report to.

Years later, I’ve found my pride has only slowed me down, and I’ve wasted a lot of energy in the process.

I’ve learned that just because my life isn’t in pieces that doesn’t mean it’s as good as it could be.

I came to a point where I didn’t want to run my race alone anymore, and thankfully I don’t have to.

God isn’t just a running partner, He ran a race I couldn’t run.

Yes, running with God is unfair, but to run with God means to rest.

It’s time we stop trying to outrun Him.
