Looking to make a statement with some favorite family photos and meaningful pieces of art? I created this gallery wall mood board for my client to give her a fresh look and fill her empty wall space. We installed right before Thanksgiving to surprise her kids when they came home from college. I’m loving the way this turned out!

Some might say there are rules for decorating bookshelves, but frankly, I don’t have any. For me, it’s about striking balance and creating a design that feels right. There's a lot going on within these shelves from plants to metallic accents, books, glass, photos, wood, woven baskets....most of the items are special to us in some way and unique to our family. The design works because of the varied textures and heights that create visual weight for your eye to rest and the dark navy paint creates enough negative space behind the objects to allow for compositional flow. Curb appeal is one of the most important aspects of staging. Usually what’s on the outside is a reflection of what’s on the inside. Welcome people into your home with beautiful planters by your front door! Have you heard of thriller, filler, spiller when it comes to container planting? Last year I used Liriope as my thriller (a tall, bold focal point) which these grasses do well, Petunias for my filler (medium sized mounding plants that fill the space) and Moneywort or Creeping Jenny as my spiller (splashy plants that cascade over the side of your planter). I recreated the same look this spring and can’t wait for my planters to become as lush and full as the ones from last year! Victoria challenged me to help her with a ‘cloffice’ (closet/office) space and I had so much fun creating this mood board! Now she has all the shopping links to create a beautifully updated room to work from home while also serving as a dressing room. I worked with her existing dresser and a handful of other pieces and focused on a neutral white-based palette with both traditional and more contemporary choices to give her room the modern Pottery Barn vibe she was looking for. Since I sent over my completed design, she’s been ordering all of the pieces to bring the vision to life. Can’t wait to see the finished room 👀 Thanks for your business!!
