Fiesta del Sol is headed to Albuquerque!! We are excited to be attending the Asociación Nacional de Grupos Folklóricos Conference in July. This is a great opportunity for our group to learn new dances and meet other Folklorico groups from around the US. We are asking all our friends, family and community for support. There will be music by Mariachi Gema , dancing from El Ballet Folklorico Fiesta Del Sol- Lubbock and food from La Picosita . We will also have many city departments, games, and a brief presentation on the neighborhood plan. There may even be some updates at Hollins park to check out 👀. See you soon!

La Cultura de Ballet Folklórico y Mariachi: Exhibit Opening May 5, 2023 at the Southwest Collection /Special Collections Library (SWC/SCL)
✨¡Celebrando! ✨La Cultura de Ballet Folklórico y Mariachi showcases and highlights the Hispanic holdings in the Southwest Collection and University Archive at Texas Tech University (TTU).
🗓The exhibit reception is scheduled for May 5th, from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at SWC/SCL. The event will be headlined by Dr. Lauryn Salazar, an Associate Professor in the Department of Musicology at TTU. Additionally, Zenaida Aguero-Reyes, the Instructor for Ballet Folklorico Aztlan-Lubbock , will be a guest speaker. The entertainment for the evening will be provided by Mariachi Los Matadores Ŧ and Fiesta Del Sol.

The exhibit, which features a Texas Tech Ballet Folklórico dress, a Mariachi Raiders Rojos traje, and images of ballet folklórico and mariachi groups, brings attention to the iconic legacy of the region’s Ballet Folklórico and Mariachi groups which have become celebratory hallmarks for a myriad of important historical dates and personal milestones. This important exhibit is housed prominently in the marquee exhibit space just inside of the SWC/SCL main entry. The exhibit runs from May 5th to August 31.

Make plans to be a part of the 11th Annual Cinco de Mayo parade to be held Saturday, May 6, 2023, again down historic Broadway!

The 2023 theme will be, “!Somos la fuerza de nuestra comunidad! We are the Strength of Our Community," reminding us that a united community is an empowered community!

Organizations, schools, youth, bands, Veterans, and families are especially urged to be a part of this year's parade and celebrate this cultural history, and engage and invite all of the community.

This year let's put the UNITY in commUNITY!
