Finally got this guy back to his home in West Virginia!!
It was definitely my most challenging mount this year with altering the form to get to fit. I had a lot of fun with this one!

Animal skulls are full of grease inside the bone, and if you don’t take the time to properly degrease them, they will turn yellow over time. It’s not always about how fast you get your European mount back, but more about getting your European back and done correctly!

This was a young hunter’s first ever buck from last season. I finished it all up and he left the shop this morning! I have some more projects to post throughout the week so be sure to keep checking back!
Step one of this mount’s nose detail. Next up, finishing the painting and I will have another project finished up. Keep an eye out for the final touches video to come!

I’ve been hard at work in the shop working on these projects! This first batch is all mounted, and I will be wrapping it up by painting and adding all finishing touches. Stay tuned for more pictures tomorrow and throughout the week for more detailed photos of my finished work in this group picture. I have much more to do next in line, so I’ll be a lot more active on my page to come!

Hi everyone, just a few very important things to keep in mind this hunting season.
All mammals will lose fur if not cared for properly. The first thing to keep in mind is that any animal kept out in warm weather for a long period of time will lose hair during the tanning process. If you harvest a animal you would like mounted (in above freezing weather) get the cape to the freezer ASAP!
Also while skinning your deer keep all of your meat ON THE DEER! And make the following cuts: cut around the body of the deer about 6 inches behind the shoulder. Then make a cut around the legs right above the knee. And finally cut a slit following the line where the brown meets the white hair on the leg up to the back where you made your first cut. This will make your taxidermist very happy and save you a few hundred dollars.

This buck is a good example of what I can do with a mount. When I started this deer it was ripped from the base of the ear the whole way to the top and also a broken horn. With a little bit of imagination I was able to transform this guy back to his natural look!
