Isotherm is happy to announce that it has acquired assets, names, trademarks, patents of Liquid Ice LLC, Ice Synergy™ and MaximIce® for the ORE Slurry Ice Worldwide Business.

This will surely add a well-known product to our current product line. MaximIce® ORE (Orbital Rod Evaporator) Ice Slurry has a well-known productive history spread over decades. Applications for this product are expansive, with early usage in the Thermal Energy Storage (TES). However, it has promising potential in food, pharmaceutical, poultry, fisheries, energy, cement, and oil/gas sectors. Currently there is active collaborative research underway at Georgia Tech University for usage in poultry application. Mega companies in poultry business have indicated keen interest. The idea is to use slurry ice instead of water to pull down the bird's body temperature. Because of latent heat factor in the slurry ice, it is much more efficient than the current conventional water chiller technology. It has prominent potential in the Next Generation power plants based on Super Critical Carbon Dioxide (sCO2) with PCM (Phase Change Material) based sinks instead of conventional water-cooled or air-cooled condensers.

Last year, we shipped this beautiful RSW skid package for a small fishing boat in Pakistan. This skid consists of our DX Evaporator, Condenser, and Receiver with a Bitzer compressor, with the refrigerant being ammonia. Our goal was to introduce a refrigerated fishing vessel to Pakistan. Recently, tests were done and have been successful, thus the boat is ready to sail for a month or so. Expressing our gratitude to our field crew and our partners!
The goal is to improve fish quality in the country so that it could potentially be a new market for overseas customers! Stay tuned for updates!

Isotherm designed and fabricated a Direct Expansion (DX) Evaporator rated at 500 TR (approx. 1760 kW) for a fruit storage facility in Central America. 2 circuit design was required. With our proprietary software and unique design, it is still running without any issues!

With both ODP (Ozone Depletion Potential) and GWP (Global Warming Potential) of 0, we support the adoption of this natural refrigerant for mankind’s refrigeration needs.

Ammonia shell & tube condenser getting ready for shipment; replacing another unit built in the 1990s.

Memory Lane: Exactly 3 years ago, our founder, Dr. Zahid Ayub (pictured right) received the Louise and Bill Holladay Distinguished Fellow Award at the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating & Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) Conference in Long Beach, California. This annual award was given to Dr. Ayub for his 30+ years of experience in enhanced heat transfer technologies, specifically for natural refrigerants such as Ammonia & Carbon Dioxide.

Recently shipped 3 horizontal separators for a biogas application. Material is all Stainless Steel 316.

Flashback: 8 years ago, Isotherm, Inc. built two shell & tube chlorine liquefiers that went to a plant in the Gulf Coast. The unit was built under ASME lethal service, thus more stringent requirements for design and fabrication were applied. One photos shows the unit being completed and shipped and one was provided by our customer, who built the skid packages and shipped to end user and is running well as of date.

Flashback: Several years ago, Isotherm, Inc. built a shell & tube thermosyphon glycol chiller and a water cooled condenser for a petrochemical customer, who built the skid package. As of now, client gave feedback that it is running well. This unit was designed per Isotherm's internal thermal design software, whereas usually the commercial available thermal software is commonly used for petrochemical applications.

Flashback: 6 years ago, Isotherm shipped its patented thin-film SX evaporator to a winery in California. Capacity is 80 TR.

Refrigerant: NH3
This chiller replaced an old shell & tube flooded that required about 300 lbs. This new chiller only needed 45 lbs of ammonia charge!
Currently, it is still operating well!

Flashback: Approximately 3 years ago, Isotherm shipped Low Temperature (LT) and Medium Temperature (MT) DX NH3-CO2 cascade condensers. The LT condenser was rated at 13 TR while the MT condenser was rated at 30 TR. NH3 charge was approximately 7 lbs for each!
These were for a public school in California. With our special enhanced technology, these cascade condensers were designed compactly and was informed recently by our client that it is running efficiently.
