Purple Wand course. Each lesson imparts essential life skills to boost their confidence and communication ability.

Children will delight in this interactive magic show followed by a hands-on workshop that teaches some of the secrets behind the illusions-perfect for ages 7-11!

Join us on June 1st at 11:00 AM at Aurora Town Public Library (550 Main St. East Aurora, NY 14052) to learn about the Secrets of Magic!

In an unexpected twist, Magician David Black flips the script - instead of him performing the magic, young volunteers from the audience take the stage and become magicians themselves! Watch as they rescue an apprehensive adult from a watery fate, math-magically open a locked treasure chest, and even telepathically guide a playing card to a secret spot. Along the way, they decode the mystery of the ultimate magic word – ANOKIN!

Children will delight in this interactive magic show followed by a hands-on workshop that teaches some of the secrets behind the illusions. Parents will appreciate that the magic effects are based on STEAM principles (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math), but that the core secret is self-confidence; the ultimate key to unlocking wonder. Every participant departs with a “Top Secret” folder and a Magic Gadget to kickstart their own magical journey right away.

The Phelps Mansion Museum is hosting a special guest on Saturday April 6th at 10:30 am that gives children a peek behind the curtain at the Secrets of Magic show and workshop presented by Magician David Black, director of the Learn To Amaze Magic Academy!

In a fun twist, David doesn’t do the tricks - audience members are brought up on stage and, to their amazement, they perform all the magic! They make colorful ribbons switch places in a blink of an eye, save an adult from being dowsed with water, and, using only the power of their mind, move a chosen playing card to a special location. Participants receive a “Top Secret” file folder and a Magic Explorer MAP that includes a magic trick that they construct themselves.

Children will enjoy a fun, engaging magic show followed by a hands-on session that teaches some of the secrets behind the tricks. Parents will appreciate that the core secret is STEAM (Science, Technology, Arts, Math); the foundation of all the magic.

Phelps Museum Hosts Amazing Kids Magic Camp for 2nd Year The Phelps mansion museum hosts the Amazing Kids Magic Summer Camp for its second year with Professional Children's Magician, David Black.

Friday, Saturday & Monday my shows will be at 11:30 am, 12:30, & 1:30 pm. Sunday my shows will be at 1, 2, & 3 pm. It's a fabulous day to visit the Ross Park Zoo! Not just because of the beautiful weather and the fun exhibits. I'll be performing magic shows at 12:30 PM, 1:30 PM, and 2:30 PM. There's even more - my good friend, Will Stafford, Juggler Extraordinaire, will be amazing you with feats of dexterity and skill at 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM. To top it all off there are free magic hats and activity sheets for the first 150 kids. So come join us at Family Fun Day.

This is one of the many reasons why I love presenting this curriculum at our academy - STEAM fun! I just finished reviewing an interesting study in the area of brain and cognition that concluded in addition to previous research that shows learning to perform magic tricks can promote both physical and psychological wellbeing, it has a positive effect on developing divergent thinking ability. This study specifically focused on ten and eleven year-olds.

Over the past few years my friend and fellow magician, Alexander Boyce has been presenting a show at the Schorr Family Firehouse Stage. This picture was taken after his show BAM! It's MAGIC in 2019. I'm sandwiched between Mike Caveney, an internationally famous magician, and Alexander. Last year's show was cancelled due to the pandemic but this year Alexander is returning with a virtual show. I will be attending this Thursday and encourage you to catch one of his shows March 4th 6 & 8 PM or March 5th 6 & 8 PM.
