Lowcountry Youth Services is an outstanding organization committed to helping the youth in Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester County achieve success in every area of their lives. And now, with the help of Passion Project Initiative, they are launching a brand new tutoring program designed to provide the youth with the tools they need to excel academically and beyond.

Juneteenth Family Fest is a family affair, and it's time we introduce you to the family putting on this shindig. is a huge event run by a small yet mighty team of women that are moms, entrepreneurs, community leaders, and so much more. What better time to highlight them than ? Over the next few weeks, we'll introduce you to the behind the JFF scene.
First up, get to know our founder and visionary, Octavia Edwards.
Octavia is a native of North Charleston, SC. She is a mother, wife, businesswoman, education activist, and social change advocate with a background in leadership development.
She is best known as the co-owner of Acute Heating & Cooling, a top-rated HVAC company based in Summerville, SC, and the founder and CEO of Passion Project Initiative. This 501c3 non-profit organization creates platforms that cultivate forward progress in our society through education, empowerment, and community engagement.
Octavia has always been passionate about making the world a better place and has always been a leader who takes the initiative to be the change she wants to see. She has managed to take Juneteenth Family Fest from a small idea that seemed impossible to a full blown event that impacts thousands.
Get to know our Executive Administrator, Anisat Shosan-President.
Anisat Shosan-President is a native of Moncks Corner, SC. She is currently a CTE Business Teacher working in the Charleston County School District. She is passionate about working with the youth and focused on community education and engagement. She is also the founder and director of Shining Starzz, a nonprofit for 6-8 graders that focuses on STEAM.

Like the rest of the community our hearts are truly broken over the loss of Atty David Aylor. He was a major contributed to the community and made such a positive impact in the lives of others. He has been a huge supporter and sponsor of Passion Project Initiative through his law firm. He made a difference in so many people's lives. Our prayers go out to his family, law firm, and loved ones.

Our founder Octavia Edwards visited Compass Collegiate Academy. The children were very engaged and told Octavia their mission and values (Scholars, Team, Excellence, Effort, Respect, Anti-Racism, Inclusion). Their theme for the month is Super Hereos. Octavia join the little ones and did her Super Hero poseπ¦ΈπΎββοΈ! Education Empowerment and Engaging with our youth is our PASSION β€ Thank you Elizabeth for inviting us.
