The PBS Ethics Committee shares a few tips on how to ensure a sensory-friendly environment that your child can feel comforted in, while prioritizing safety during the events of the day:

2. Reminders for what can upset your child and how to support them the day of can keep everyone happy.
3. Set up any needed sensory-related tools.
4. Plan for quiet places where your child can retreat if they become overwhelmed.

Today, we join in celebrating Juneteenth, a significant day in American history.
Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, marks the anniversary of June 19th, 1865 when the last enslaved African-Americans in Galveston, Texas, were informed of their freedom, two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation. This day reminds us of the resilience, culture, and contributions of African-Americans throughout history.
At Team PBS, we honor and support our African-American colleagues, recognizing the importance of diversity and inclusion in everything we do. Let's take this opportunity to learn, reflect, and continue advocating for equality and justice today and every day.
