My current project is the folk opera "Jubilee", adapted from the novel "Jubilee" (1966) by Margaret Walker. The piece sets to music poems from her volume, "This Is My Century: New and Collected Poems" (1989). The opera tells the story of Vyry, Walker’s great-grandmother and her journey from slavery through Emancipation and Reconstruction. The music in the opera includes a portion of the song cycle, “For My People,” also based on Walker’s poetry collection. Additional poems are musicalized, and new original arias and recitative by Klein and Jubilee librettist Sorkin will be sung by individual characters in the style of traditional folk opera.

A performance is slated for February 2025 at Jackson State University.

I had the honor of speaking to students at Jackson State University along with rehearsing, and presenting at the Phillis Wheatley Poetry Festival.

The performance featured vocalist Aurelia Williams, the Jackson State University Choir, Mississippi College Choir and Rust College Choir under the direction of Crafton Beck.

A special shout-out to the phenomenal vocalist, Aurelia Williams, and the enchanting choirs—the Jackson State University Choir, Mississippi College Choir and Rust College Choir, expertly directed by the maestro Crafton Beck. 🎤👏 Witnessing the passion and skill of these young musicians was truly awe-inspiring!

I'm so incredibly honored to be a the composer of ‘Who Taught You That?", a track on "Vox Humana" 2024 Grammy Nomination - Best Latin Jazz category. With Gold Records and multiple cuts over the years, this is my first song on a Grammy Nominated album.
