🔵 Last month eastern Kentucky sustained devastating damage as floodwaters swept through several counties.

🔵 37 people lost their lives, thousands of residents’ homes were affected and the community itself is heartbroken.

🔵 At least 1,100 students remain displaced from their homes in one school district alone.

🔵 More than 7,600 Kentucky students are still affected, and their start dates have been pushed into September, according to the state Education Department.

🔵 The superintendent of the Letcher County School District says they lost two elementary school libraries and one middle school library (over 25,000 library books; that’s not to mention damage to the county’s public libraries and bookmobile). The superintendent said they are in need of help via book donations.

I am doing a book drive to benefit the Hindman Settlement School Book Drive as several of my Usborne Book friends are working together to fill the schools, preschools, libraries, dyslexia program and families with books once again.

I would love to provide the eastern Kentucky district with as many books as possible. At this time, each facility is providing a huge list for all of us to order from.
