I had a client this morning ask about back braces after throwing out your back (experiencing acute low back pain).
Wearing a back brace can be beneficial in a few ways:
Provides support and stability: A back brace can help to compress the core and stabilize the spine, which can take some of the pressure off the injured muscles and ligaments. This can help to reduce pain and inflammation.
Reduces pain: By stabilizing the spine and reducing muscle strain, a back brace can help to decrease pain levels. This can make it easier to move around and participate in daily activities.
Promotes healing: The support and stability provided by a back brace can create a more favorable environment for healing. This can help to speed up the recovery process.
Reduces risk of further injury: By limiting certain movements, a back brace can help to prevent you from further injuring your back. This is especially important during the early stages of healing when the muscles and ligaments are still weak.
However, it is important to note that back braces are not a cure-all for low back pain. They should be used in conjunction with other treatments, such as rest, ice, heat, acupuncture, massage therapy, chiropractoic adjustments, yoga and physical therapy. It is also important to wear the brace for the correct amount of time and in the way that your doctor instructs you to. Wearing a brace for too long or incorrectly can actually weaken your back muscles.

Acupuncture isn't just got humans! Look at this fur babe getting a wonderful treatment ♥️
In day three of the deep dive into Sky’s treatment journey we’re going to talk about Acupuncture, the ancient Chinese medicine based on the philosophy that illness is caused by an in balance of vital energies in the body.
Research has shown that acupuncture can help reduce pain and inflammation and improve pets quality of life. Symptoms such as hip dysplasia, degenerative joint disease, chronic back pain, even serious spinal trauma.
The technique involves the insertion of fine needles into the dog’s body at specific points where nerves and blood vessels converge. These points are located in sites called meridians which are energy channels that transmit energy throughout the dogs body and enhance blood circulation which improves healing ability. Acupuncture also stimulates the nervous system and increases the release of anti-inflammatory and pain relieving substances to reduce the dogs discomfort.
Your vet can refer you to a certified acupuncturist. Your pet will be evaluated and a treatment plan will be determined. Sessions can last between 20 and 30 minutes and may require 1 to 3 visits per week for determined. Which could last for several weeks. Sessions cost between 80 and $100 depending on the practice.
