Authentic Japanese meal. 🇯🇵 🍱

I was born and raised in Japan hence I must inject authentic Japanese food into my body frequently while my American husband says things like "Oh I'm craving chicken parm."

When people hire me to cook for them or teach them how to make Japanese food, I normally cook something "safe" but once in a while, I take a chance and make more authentic Japanese food like this. Part of me is always nervous to see people's reactions, but over the course, I learned that they do enjoy trying food that they never had before, especially when it's so healthy for you.

Anyway, I have a few more classes left for this year, and I love that people started booking in-person parties/cooking classes more and more. 🤗

As this year is nearing the end, I have to start thinking about Osechi now...stay tuned!

It's all BAO Thanksgiving leftovers.

Orange ginger glazed leftover turkey. This is creation. It was so delicious and I only used ingredients that I bought for Thanksgiving dinner.

P.S.

My is having online sales and free shipping for ordering 4 jars. A portion of online sales (until November 30) proceeds a charity that fights childhood hunger. Food is something that brings joy. Not having access to food when you are hungry is the worst feeling. If you could help me help those children, I would be so grateful. 🙏(link in bio)

Shake Onigiri for "Onigiri Action".

It's that time of year again.

Every photo of onigiri posted on IG with the hashtag " helps provide five school meals to children in need around the world.

🍙🍙🍙🍙🍙

When it comes to Japanese food, probably the first thing you think of is either sushi or ramen. But to me, onigiri is the ultimate Japanese comfort food. Onigiri to Japanese is the same as PB & J sandwich to Americans. It's so simple, so good, and never gets old. While I often try to make something innovative and unique, I always go back to something simple, like onigiri.

P.S. Do you know who makes the best onigiri in the whole world? My mom.

About last weekend.

A scene from private cheffing for a birthday dinner party of 9 people. (There were only so many pictures I could take while I was serving everyone by myself)

I made 4 courses of gluten-free, dairy-free dishes with lots of seasonal, locally grown ingredients and seafood, and of course with a Japanese twist. My dishes are all original recipes and I always try to make something creative and unique that you can't find at any other restaurants, and I take pride in my work.

Benefits of private dining experiences:
1. No driving or ubers.
2. Fully customized meals.
3. No masks. (I am fully vaccinated and I do wear masks)
4. BYOB
5. No time limit.

I love what I do. I meet so many wonderful people and I love getting to know them through the food I make. 💗

久々に出張料理、とっても素敵なお家&とってもラブリーな方達9人分の4コース。大変だけど、いつも喜ばれるからやり甲斐がある!そして日本食は世界中の皆に愛されてる、ってつくづく思う。

Another summer tomato dish! have shared this recipe before but I’m sharing again because it’s very simple, and really, really, really good. Trust me, you will have foodgasm in your mouth.

Preheat oven at 475 F
1. In a baking dish, place cored tomatoes, peeled garlic, sprinkle sea salt, and drizzle olive oil.
2. Bake for about 1 hour. Let it cool down to room temp. Add basil.

Serve it with spaghetti and you will have no regretti. 😘

T O M A T O S A L A D
🍅 🍅🍅
This year, I've been getting so many more tomatoes from my garden, and I can't complain. This is one of my favorite summer salads--tomatoes, zucchini ribbons, white peach, basil, red onion, Parmigiano Reggiano, salt, black pepper, white balsamic vinegar, and olive oil.

Two most important things when you want to make an awesome tomato salad.
1. super fresh juicy tomatoes. Tomatoes from supermarkets don't work. Please go to local farms to get good tomatoes.
2. sharp knife. Please don't smush beautiful tomatoes with your dull knife...

今年のうちの家庭菜園のトマトちゃん達、すごい頑張ってくれてます。

Happy summer!

Potatoes. [RECIPE ALERT]

Hi. I've been quiet here on Instagram, but I've been still cooking! My daughter and I just dug out some potatoes from our backyard and I made a super simple dish.

Here's the recipe:

-about 2 lbs potatoes
-1 clove garlic--sliced
-1 can anchovy fillet (drain oil)
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
-2 tbsp white wine
-chives
-Salt
-OO

1. Cook (boil) potatoes with a generous amount of salt (al dente)
2. While potatoes are cooking, in a medium frying pan, cook anchovy fillet and break them with a wooden spoon.
3. Add white wine, garlic, and butter and keep on stirring until it becomes saucy.
4. Add cooked potatoes and mix well. Drizzle olive oil (optional) and garnish with finely chopped chives.

Pan-fried bun. 🥟 🥢

I have a bunch of corporate team-building classes coming up (many teams from Europe! woot.), and I had to tweak this recipe. If you are interested in this class, raise your hand 🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏽🙋🏼‍♀️🙋🏻🙋🏾‍♀️🙋 and please email me [email protected] or DM me here.

Everyone in the world loves dumplings, and we should have "International Dumplings Day." 🥟😉

最近、コーポレート相手のクラスでバタバタしています。嬉しい事にヨーロッパからの参加が多く、世界の繋がりを感じます。なかなかトンネルの先の光が見えないような状況でも。

RECIPE ALERT ✨

Revisiting this super simple dish. As some of you may remember, I was invited to be on TV, making this dish a few years ago. Being on TV sounds cool, but I had to be in the studio by 8am and only that day, my super reliable babysitter overslept and didn’t show up, my husband had left for work by 5 am so my day started off with a crazy emergency. 😂 and it was live, so no recording, no practice and I had to cook and talk to the hosts at the same time...it was super hard! But everyone loves this simple dish so those who haven’t tried, please do!

INGREDIENTS: (3-4 servings)

-About 1.5 lbs skinless & boneless chicken (I used thighs)
-1 lb cherry tomatoes
-1/2 onion
-1 clove garlic
-6 oz of baby spinach leaves
-1 1/2 teaspoons smoked paprika
-3 tablespoons white wine
-4 tablespoons EVOO
-Salt & Pepper

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Cut chicken into bite size pieces and marinate with salt, pepper and smoked paprika
2. While chicken is getting marinated, cut cherry tomatoes into halves, slice onion thinly, and mince garlic finely.
3. Heat a large skillet at high heat and add 3 tablespoons EVOO. Cook cherry tomatoes until charred. Remove from the skillet.
4. In the same skillet, add 1 tablespoon EVOO and saute onion and garlic at medium heat until onion is brown. Add chicken and cook for 6-7 minutes. Add white wine and cook for another minute.
6. Add cherry tomatoes and baby spinach, cover for 2 min. Mix them lightly before serving.

Enjoy!
