Bring It John
Hi, I’m John! I’m a 2 yr old male bull terrier who was signed over to Blue Ridge Bull Terrier Rescue in May of 2022.
Blue Ridge rescues and re-homes bull terriers along the east coast, except Florida and some of the eastern portion of the US.

Getting into the holiday spirit.
Zooms!
Jumping for joy. It’s almost the weekend.
Neutered and ready to mingle. 🐶
Get this boy a pool. John has some serious vert.
Getting ready for the holiday weekend.
Bouncing through life.
Helping with the remodel.
Went to the vet this morning::: I have ear gunk. Starting on meds, going to feel like a million bucks in a couple of days.
Helping or hindering household chores… you be the judge. 🫣
Really starting to enjoy toys.
Shop dog this week. Having some challenges with housetraining. John is very crate clean, but indiscriminate about indoor urination out of the crate. Doing a urinalysis next week to rule out medical concerns (uti.) Using the belly band to help mitigate accidents while also allowing for freedom. Rewarding heavily for all toileting outside. 🐶❤️
Mischievous behaviour to seek attention. Very interested in the treadmill.
Catching rays. Lots of impulse control work today and reshaping his perspective about entering the crate. Setting foundations that can be built on in the future.
Once crated he settles down quickly, but he is v reluctant to enter of his own volition. Establishing patterns of consent and choice builds handler trust.
Great opportunity to work with Blake Rodriquez on his recent visit to Boston.
Leash work. Working well on fabric martingale.
Trying to keep John’s first day chill and give him room/time to sort himself out. Through basic exposure I can get a feel for what he knows and how he responds to stress and environmentals. The dog I meet today will be markedly different than the dog I have in front of me in a week, 6 weeks and on. Looking forward to this adventure.
John, you are somebody.
It has been a big morning for three of the Fall River Five as Jamie, now known as Finnegan, Beth and John all got sprung from the shelter. We have a slight change of plan for Ripp, the fifth of the group. He will be leaving this weekend. To recap, 5 littermates were taken by animal control due to neglect last week and brought to a shelter. The first of the group went to his new home Wednesday. This morning Finnegan and Beth were pulled by Tricia Murphy. Tricia kindly agreed to foster and work with Finnegan. Finnegan is a typical, young, energetic bull terrier who needs some guidance as he never had any kind of structure or routine or much of anything else up until he was taken by Animal Control. Tricia also is driving Beth to her foster mom, BJ Ralston, who will spend time getting to know Beth so we can get a better idea what kind of household she would do best in. Rhonda J. Arruda went to the shelter and sprung John. She then drove to meet John’s foster mom, Danielle de Wildt. Danielle reached out and offered to foster John after seeing our original post on the Fall River Five. John appears to be the pushiest of the pack. It works out well because Danielle is a dog trainer and is looking forward to helping John use his energy in constructive ways. We are truly thankful that we have three fabulous foster homes lined up for these bullies. People like Tricia, BJ and Danielle, volunteers who take in fosters, are the reason that we can continue to help bull terriers in need.
Special thanks to Arianna Silva and Forever Paws Animal Shelter for having the best interest of the bullies in mind, Rhonda and Joseph M Arruda for evaluating the bullies, Rhonda and Tricia for pulling them and driving some and Tricia, BJ and Danielle for fostering them.
