What a journey this has been. I don’t even know where to begin!!! The last six+ weeks have been the most trying, yet beautiful experience I have ever been through. I can easily say I have a new understanding of life and an appreciation and gratitude that is beyond my full understanding yet.

I have encountered so many people along this journey that showed their love and care for me in ways that are countless. A number of them complete strangers. It left me in awe. My heart was/is so completely full of love and content. I am a new person. Happy and healthy. The gratitude is immense.

I have also learned the true meaning of “it only takes one person to change a life”. The gift Mercedes Mefford has given me is life. Imagine for a moment what that means??!! I could be stuck on dialysis, sick as dog, barely making it through—but because she was selfless, I can be the best mother, wife, teacher, friend, family member, and every other role I play on a day to day basis. Wow. Just wow. Thank you will never be enough but I know she knows ❤️

My soul is just shining for countless reasons and I cannot wait to see what the future holds. I encourage anyone who has ever thought about donating an organ to really consider it. You can definitely change someone’s life.

I am finally home after 6 weeks away from my home, my family (I only saw my kids for one week),my work family, my pets. I am healthy, labs and kidney are perfect. Thank you for supporting me and my family on this journey!!

Merry Christmas 🎄

Today I was able meet up with two other women close to my age who are also battling kidney disease!! We decided that we would be there for each other “for life” and it warmed my heart tremendously and gave me lots of hope, as we are all in different stages of our journey. I look for gratitude each day and this filled that bucket❤️
