A short whine: ever since they updated FB (that would be about two years ago, right... okay) I have trouble figuring out how to use it. Fingers crossed that people will see this. The book club is holding hybrid meetings now at the Albuquerque Garden Center and by zoom. We'll be discussing Spengler's Fruits of the Sands on Monday 1 August at 4 pm. Send me a message if you'd like more information.
We're moving to hybrid these days. I'll be broadcasting live from the Albuquerque Garden Center but you can still contact me for the zoom link. Monday 7 March at 4 pm we'll be discussing Gary Paul Nabhan's award winning Mesquite: an Arboreal Love Affair. For those who are really adventurous, the back of the book includes some mesquite recipes. Or, I highly recommend the Eat Mesquite and More cookbook.

With 16 different clubs and societies the Council of Albuquerque Garden Clubs has something for everyone regardless of gardening experience. Over the coming weeks we are going to be diving deeper into each of these great clubs, but for now take a look at the brief descriptions. Which club are you most excited about learning more about?

One of the upsides of stay-at-home orders is more gardening! For general gardening questions use the Albuquerque Area Extension Master Gardener (AAEMG) website. San Francisco Landmark City Lights Bookstore Raises $400k, Will Stay In Business
This post came from Alice Rearden but when I shared it I seem to have made it seem as though it came from the Library. Sorry Alice! It's always good news when a book store stays in business.
deadline.com The iconic City Lights bookstore in San Francisco has apparently avoided a shutdown, at least for now, raising more than $400k out of a goal of $300k in a GoFundMe.com campaign that saw more than 8…

Some of you may be wondering when the Garden Tour Event will be happening. This will occur next summer, and we will provide you details as that approaches.
By the sounds of things, the library will remain closed for the rest of April. Nature and the natural world, however, will not be on shutdown. For those in the Master Gardeners, I wrote an article on foraging in your yard for the April newsletter. I referred to a number of library books which you cannot check out at the moment.
Do you forage? Do you have favorite references (digital or analog) that you use for identification and/or recipes?
In a different world, our book club, Reading @ the Garden Center, would be meeting on Monday 6 April to discuss The Food Explorer by Daniel Stone. Have you made any dishes using the plants described in the book? How about a Washington pie????
If we're still all home alone by the May book club (4 May), join us via zoom at 4 pm. Read it and share comments. Details to come!
