The historic expansion of Magic Kingdom officially begins as permits are filed this week to start moving ground. Starting with Frontierland, where the American West has always been about seeking new adventures and keeping your eyes on the horizon.

Bringing the Western charm of iconic national parks to a brand-new story inspired by Pixar Animation Studios’ “Cars,” Lightning McQueen, Mater and all their friends will soon find themselves at the Magic Kingdom in a reimagined section of Frontierland. To make way for this completely new frontier, the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island will be transformed into vast and rugged terrains for a rally race with some of the world’s most iconic racers.

Ahead of work revving into high gear next year, guests will have plenty of time to experience the charm and nostalgia of Frontierland as it is today.

Once completed, this reimagined area of Frontierland will be home to two new “Cars”-themed attractions taking guests into the wilderness beyond Radiator Springs.

And cruising just around the bend, guests will be able to venture Beyond Big Thunder Mountain into an all-new land dedicated to Disney Villains. Inspired by the wicked characters fans know and loathe, learn more about the multi-acre expansion that will include two major attractions, plus dining and shopping.

Together, these new additions to Magic Kingdom will represent the largest expansion in park history.

Have your applied for your REAL ID? I applied yesterday! My license was expiring soon, so I was able to renew and take care of the REAL ID requirements all at the same time. In Alabama, the REAL ID is referred to as the STAR ID. You can make an appointment online and check out all the required documents you will need. Alabama residents can refer to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency website.

“Fantasmic!,” Disney’s longest-running nighttime spectacular, returns to the Rivers of America in Disneyland Park on May 24, 2024.

“Fantasmic!” will return with refreshed moments in the iconic show that features live performances, special effects and innovative technology to take Guests on a journey through Mickey Mouse's imagination, filled with fantastic events and images as seen in some of our most beloved Disney classic films such as “Sleeping Beauty,” “Peter Pan” and “Tangled.”

The popular production will introduce a new climactic battle sequence between Sorcerer Mickey and Maleficent, brought to life with updated special effects, plus the return of the thrilling shipboard confrontation between Peter Pan and Captain Hook from “Peter Pan.”

Guests can view “Fantasmic!” in select standby viewing areas along Rivers of America and may begin queuing no earlier than two hours before showtime.

No tricks here, because Disney is doling out five new treats — plus returning favorites — for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in 2024! It’s time to kick off the festivities with a Halfway to Halloween celebration, and we’re conjuring up more spooky spectacles at this separately-ticketed event.

This year’s event kicks off Aug. 9 and will take place on select nights through Oct. 31 at Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World Resort. Tickets go on sale for guests staying at select Walt Disney World Resort hotels, Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels, and Shades of Green on May 8. For all other guests, tickets will go on sale May 15.

The dates for 2024 are:

RunDisney expo for Springtime Surprise races today. The last event of the 2023-2024 race season. Reservations at Disney resorts are already open for the beginning of the 2024-2025 season. There are so many activities offered at Walt Disney World Resort properties! The four theme parks are always on our list, but some days it’s all about relaxing at the resort. At Fort Wilderness Campground they offer Crockett’s Craft Corner. This activity can be booked in advance by calling 407-WDW-PLAY. We had numerous options for our sign, but we chose a more traditional sign for ourselves today. Snacks and drinks were provided while we painted and stained. This activity is held every Tuesday at 11:30 at Pioneer Hall.
