A message from our Executive Director:
The Shinn Foundation was created to support my PhD study and research in Oceanic species sustainability. I have targeted a few controversial species in particular because of the lack of data, non-reliable data, and data from questionable sources, which I and many others in both the commercial and recreational fisheries believe this results in poor “governmental” oversight and regulations. Unfortunately there is very little “governmental” funding available for the research that needs to be done, therefore the Shinn Foundation is partnering with other nonprofit organizations, the commercial /recreational fishing industry, corporate sponsors, and concerned citizens. We are a startup organization that will begin a 7 year study starting in the fall of this year. I would love the opportunity to present in much further detail the Shinn Foundations mission.
