What Is the Employee Retention Tax Credit (ERTC)?
The Employee Retention Tax Credit is a business tax credit rebate included in the CARES Act.
Both the Employee Retention Tax Credit 2020 and the Employee Retention Tax Credit 2021 programs were implemented to encourage businesses to retain their full-time and part-time W-2 payroll employees.
This is essentially money the government is currently giving to businesses in response to the mandated shutdowns due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
There are many, many businesses eligible for this tax credit but don’t know it. And in many cases, a business could be eligible for this money even if they have previously received PPP money.
EMPLOYEE RETENTION TAX CREDIT (ERTC)
A tax credit on your payroll expenses that you don’t have to pay back!
The 2020 ERC Program is a refundable tax credit of 50% of up to $10,000 in wages paid per employee from 3/12/20-12/31/20 by an eligible employer. THAT’S $5,000 PER EMPLOYEE!
In 2021 the ERC increased to 70% of up to $10,000 in wages paid per employee per quarter for Q1, Q2, and Q3. That is a potential of up to $21,000 per employee.
