The CSC commercial team - sales, estimating, and project management - had a great time in Nashville last week! The team enjoyed three days packed with training sessions, company updates and fun team building exercises. Gathering together was a great way to align our collective efforts, and have a little fun, as we look forward to a successful year in 2024!

Project Spotlight ✨

Set to be completed in 2024, 10 World Trade is a cutting-edge project that CSC is proud to be a part of. This unique structure, which grows and expands as the building ascends into the sky, meaning each floor is different than the one before it, is situated in Boston’s thriving Seaport District.

CSC provided our partners, Walters Group, with four different kinds of deck for this project which totaled over 550,000 square feet of steel deck and thousands of feet of gage accessories. Because of the building’s distinctive needs, CSC coordinated the special delivery of certain sections so that deck could be flown in and delivered from above.

Kim Rowe and Mary Anne Davenport, from our Point of Rocks facility, recently participated in a local community Womens Build Habitat for Humanity project. This project was for a single mom with two girls and was completed by women, from the ground up!

From the footers, cross beams, and drywall, to helping put in windows, and painting this group did an amazing job. We are so proud of Kim and Mary Anne!

September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month and CSC supports all who are affected. Today, we encouraged employees to wear blue to help raise awareness, as prostate cancer affects 1 in 8 men in their lifetime.

It's the start of a new school year and we're reflecting back on the South Point Elementary School project that we helped accomplish in 2020.

Located in Washington, MO, this innovative new school has the capacity to serve 550 students thanks to its spacious and contemporary design. CSC products such as roof deck, floor deck, and joists were selected for construction of this 78,000-square-foot school built to serve kindergarten through sixth grade students.

Meet Augusto Bravo, our new Senior Staff Accountant for our Point of Rocks facility. He has a wide range of experience in finance, commercial banking, and public accounting and currently resides in Germantown, MD.

Augusto has a well-rounded background, which includes his MBA, a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, a Master’s degree in Marketing, and an M.S. in Accounting from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Learn more by hearing from him below:

"I have met great people. Since I had the chance to interview for the accounting position, I noted that everyone is very approachable and friendly. It is also exciting to be able to learn the systems and processes that are currently in place."

Meet John Kelly, our new Plant Controller for the Midwest. He has previously worked for a number of companies including Edward Jones and Honeywell International, and has a wide range of experience with expenditure management and plant management.

John earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Missouri-Columbia, an MBA from William Woods University and is Six Sigma Green Belt certified. He currently lives in Washington with his wife and five kids. Learn more by hearing from him below:

Meet Cyril McWeeney, the newest Drafter for our South Plainfield location. He has previously worked for several national companies in the steel, construction, and manufacturing industry and has a wide range of experience with joist and deck projects such as high-rise buildings, sports stadiums, and Amazon warehouses.

What are you most excited about in joining CSC?
I’m most excited about working with our HR team; Rose and Andrea have been a wealth of knowledge. Being able to help them with all they do will be very rewarding.

What do you like to do in your free time?
I am an avid reader, love running and working out, and enjoy grilling and hanging out on my patio. I also love going to concerts and listening to Kenny Chesney, Bob Marley, Billy Idol, and Hardy.

I am a diehard Raiders and Capitals fan!

June was National Safety Month and CSC is dedicated to educating employees about the leading causes of preventable injuries so that people can live their fullest lives.

CSC facilities participated in weekly events and discussions about relevant safety topics such as musculoskeletal disorders, workplace impairment, and prevention for injuries, slips, trips, and falls. Prizes for games like safety bingo included massage guns and CSC Safety Month t-shirts.

Thank you to all the facilities and employees who participated in National Safety Month as a collective effort to promote the importance of workplace safety year round.

We are pleased to announce that Peter Lee will be shifting his talents from the Jacksonville plant to working on a more national scale with CSC strategic accounts. While remaining a Senior Project Manager, he will report directly to the Director of Project Management, Jon Bell.

Peter joined CSC in 2010 and has worked for other joist and structural fabricators prior to CSC. Since joining CSC, he has performed many functions in the Detailing/Engineering and Project Management departments. His experience with customer service, his technical knowledge of our products, and his ability to build relationships with his customers in Jacksonville have made him a fit for this role.

In this position, Peter will seek to strengthen CSC relationships with some of our strategic customers post-sale by performing job site visits and shop visits while project managing their work across the country and working with all CSC facilities. He will also utilize his experience to suggest and expand our PM playbook through writing and proposing standard work processes.

Please extend congratulations to Peter in his new role at CSC.

We are pleased to announce that Shawn Tartt has been promoted to Manager of Project Management (PM) at our Jacksonville facility.

Shawn has experience managing steel fabrication and er****on projects on and off site, as well as leading a team to provide excellent service to both internal and external customers.

In his new role, Shawn will oversee the PM department in Jacksonville and collaborate with the team to level-load the shops and standardize processes. His knowledge of steel fabrication and er****on will be valuable in deciding how to best handle situations with our fabricator customers.
