FTC Diesel Students Toured Daimler Assembly Plant

Damiler's hybrid prototype is seen behind FTC diesel students in below picture. During the Damiler manufacturer tour, the students were able to watch a truck being built from start to finish. What a learning experience!

Yesterday was a busy day for the Forsyth Tech Transportation Center. David Conner, program coordinator, started off the day with Daniel Merritt at West Stokes College and Career fair, then joined John John E. Klapmeyer at Goodwill for another college fair. The Automotive Systems Technology program is currently enrolling students for a spring start.

Motor Sports Project

Motorcycle Mechanics students, Jonah George and Sam Mills, working on their templates for a project in the Custom Fabrication course held over the summer. Students learn a variety of techniques and steps during this course from the beginning of the fabrication process making templates, working with an array of metal shaping and cutting equipment, to finishing the final product.

Susanna Boysen was sought out by Noregon, a heavy-duty diagnostic company. They came to FTC's diesel program to interview Susanna, representing women in the diesel field. She has developed diagnostic skills, using Noregon's equipment, from electrical voltage readings in the engine.

Susanna has lots of diesel skills and came first place in the Skills USA NC Leadership and Skills Competition this past Thursday. She will compete in the June national conference.
