Nick Adkins is an author/illustrator from Okemos, Michigan. He is currently working on a chapter books series about a girl, a robot, and figuring out how to navigate life. Previously, Nick self-published two books; The Great Big Scary Monster (which he illustrated) and Sloth VS Turtle (which he wrote and illustrated). Nick is a Michigan State University alum and lives with his wife, Ashley and their two boys, Logan and Elijah.

Who wants to go to Taiwan? 🙋♂️
At this bookstore in Taiwan, visitors shop in the dark Wuguan Books in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, is almost completely dark so shoppers can recreate the experience of reading a book under the covers with a flashlight.

Today I went on a 10 mile hike to and past the lighthouse on Ludington State Park's shore. Now I'm cozying in at the cabin to start Neil Gaiman's Masterclass. It has been a truly lovely Michigan day.
If my limited internet connection allows, I'll post the audio I took of the lake.

I'm on a boat!
Back in March, I was awarded a grant to attend a workshop at the Highlights Foundation. The workshop was canceled and rescheduled and canceled again. Thankfully, I was able to still use the grant funds on a self-made writing retreat, which I tailored around my middle grade novel, August + Nora.
Last night, I stayed on a boat to get the feel of being on water. August does a lot of sailing and I typically do not.
On today's agenda I will be doing some exploring at Ludington State Park and beginning Neil Gaiman's Masterclass course.
The writing and rewriting has already begun, but I'm looking forward to getting some inspiration from nature and from a master writer.
