The Skin Care Ingredients You Shouldn't Mix!!

Story from facial room, I have interviewed how my clients layer skincare products on their skin. A lot of them have good skincare products, but some of them made a mistake by layering wrong ingredients together.

What's NOT?

1. Don't mix Retinol with AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) and BHA (Beta Hydroxy Acid) You might think they work well together since they reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, but they are a chemical exfoliants. Using two exfoliants together is not a good idea, this can lead to redness, irritation, sensitivity, flaking, and dryness.
2. Don't mix Acne Treatment, like Benzoyl Peroxide, and Chemical Exfoliants. Benzoyl peroxide is a harsh so keep in mind using both together leads to a red and flaky mess. So NO! Personally, I do recommend to use Salicylic Acid is the best to treat acne, it reduce acne and clear dead skin cells.

At the end of the day, it's all about what products and ingredients you're incorporating in your skin routine so you can use them effectively. I suggest to avoiding the possible irritation, ladies!!

You may be cleansing, moisturizing, and slathering on the sunscreen—but if you’re not exfoliating, when you put moisturizing products, you created more textures of skin, then all the skin products you put in can't pe*****ted into skin deeply so your skin isn’t as healthy as it could be.

Why is Exfoliation Important?
As we age, the process of cell regeneration slows down. This means that the body is slower to shed skin cells and generate new ones. There are a many kind of exfoliating products, if you choose chemical exfoliation, peels and masks that contain alpha or beta hydroxy acids provide a deep level of exfoliation. If you have sensitive skin, you may wish to look for more natural peels that contain fruit derived enzymes.

What does Retinol do to your face?.Retinoids are derivatives of vitamin A, they're actually considered antioxidants. In addition, they're a "cell communicating" ingredient. This means their job is to "talk" to skin cells and encourage healthier, younger cells making their way to the surface of the skin.

What are benefits of retinol?.Applying vitamin A topically in the form of retinol prevent wrinkles, smooth out existing fine lines and wrinkles. Brighten dull skin by exfoliating at a cellular level, which results in brighter and smoother new skin.

However, Retinol may cause minor side effects such as redness and irritation, but these side effects dissipate within a few weeks as the skin becomes use to the cell turnover rate.

9 Things You need to know before using Vitamin C for your skin!!

"Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant that brightens dark spots, smooth fine lines, and, importantly, scavenges free radicals from the environment, pollution, and UV radiation"

However, not all vitamin C products are created equal and they can be irritating and finicky to use in some case. It's important to read the label on the product and know what you're really getting, especially if you have sensitive skin.

So, before you start going down the path of finding a vitamin C product for your face, these tips will guide you to pick the best Vitamin c serum for you.

1. Use Vitamin C serums in the morning. In general vitamin c products should be applied in the morning but it's important to give it time to absorb into your skin before going outside.

2. Use your vitamin C products at the right point in your skin care routine. For serum, you want to apply vitamin C product to freshly cleansed skin, but before moisturize!

3. Use the right concentration vitamin C for your skin type and concerns. The concentration of vitamin C, in general, range from below 5% and all the way up to 30%, and this ingredient can have different effects at those concentrations. For dry or sensitive skin recommend with 5% concentrations or lower. But for oily skin can do higher concentrations. However, the effects begin to plateau after 20% so there's usually no need to go higher than that.

4. Don't use vitamin C with exfoliating, especially benzoyl peroxide which can oxidize the vitamin C.

5. You can use Vitamin C with Retinol on the same day at different times. advise using vitamin C products in the morning and retinoids at night.

6.Make sure to store your vitamin C products correctly. Vitamin C is sensitive to light and air. When exposed to these factors, it becomes oxidized to dehydroascorbic acid. So these products should be stored in opaque containers that are either air-restrictive or air-tight. Airless pump rather than a tub or dropper bottle that being opened all the way.

7. Look at the overall formulation of your product. If you have dry, mature skin, recommends looking for more moisturizing products containing lipid-soluble forms of vitamin C.

8. Notice if the product has changed color. Vitamin C serum should be colorless or a light straw color. If it is oxidized, it becomes yellow or brown and is likely going to be less effective.

9. Don't limit yourself to serums. If you would rather to add an extra step,you can get vitamin C in cleansers, moisturizers, exfoliants, and even sunscreens.

What cause milia in adults?

There are several factors that cause milia in adults. Today I'll talk about the most commonly, milia is caused by lack of free water in the skin.
Diagram of skin has bi-layer skin that primary made up of oil and water and we are suppose to have the proper balance of oil and water.
Unfortunately most people don't drink enough water or get enough water for our dermis. Also many of us experience Transepidermal water loss (TEWL or TWL) from the evaporation of water from the skin.
When you think about milia, the primary area you see it, it around the eye where you have that thiner skin which is where chance Transepidermal water loss can be high.
So what do you think what is going to happen to the oil component in the bi-layer if we missing that water. It will start to crystallize into milia that what you see those little hard balls in the skin.

How to prevent milia?
1.Regularly moisturize your skin.
2. Use the serum

How to get rid of milia?
Gently exfoliate the area, stream open your pores but do not pick, poke, or try to remove them.
