The details on this butterfly design! 🦋 I've had some questions on how this design was created. After baking and base icing this cookie, a second icing layer was added for the butterfly in a very light blue color giving it shape and definition. My daughter then handpainted the details. When planning designs for a set of cookies, we try to consider the time involved with each of the designs in the set. We were a little ambitious with this particular design as it took a little longer to complete than planned but so worth it! Let me know if you have any other questions!

I don't do many behind the scenes posts, but after being gone for 4 days, I come home to 4 dozen perfectly base iced cookies that are waiting to become baseballs that I couldn't resist to share! My daughter, Lilly, started "helping" decorate cookies when she was probably around 5 or 6 years old. She has almost as much experience as I do! 😄 She's so creative and is my go-to for designs when I need help. She's a master at color combos and anything color wheel related. Thank you, Lilly!

Heading home after another great time on the remote beaches of North Core Banks near Portsmouth Island (see comments for more pics!) on the Cape Lookout National Seashore. Only accessible with your off road vehicle by private ferry at Morris Marina Ferry Service. Once you're on the North Core Banks there is no one around for MILES.
