It’s nice to have that cleared up!

Remembering Cass Elliot who was born Ellen Naomi Cohen on September 19, 1941 on Baltimore, MD.

Elliot had a brother, Joseph, and a younger sister, Leah, who also became a singer and recording artist. Elliot's early life was spent with her family in Alexandria, Virginia, before the family moved to Baltimore when Elliot was 15, and where they had briefly lived at the time of Elliot's birth. Elliot adopted the name "Cass" in high school, possibly borrowing it from actress Peggy Cass, according to Denny Doherty. She assumed the surname "Elliot" some time later.

When Elliot's family returned to Baltimore, she attended Forest Park High School. While attending Forest Park High School, Elliot became interested in acting. After leaving high school to pursue an entertainment career in New York, Elliot toured in the musical "The Music Man" in 1962, but lost the part of Miss Marmelstein in "I Can Get It for You Wholesale" to Barbra Streisand.

She did not pursue a singing career until she moved to the Washington, DC, area to attend American University (not Swarthmore College, as mentioned in the biographical song "Creeque Alley").

America's folk music scene was on the rise when Elliot met banjoist and singer Tim Rose and singer John Brown, and the three began performing as The Triumvirate. In 1963, James Hendricks replaced Brown, and the trio was renamed the Big 3. Elliot's first recording with the Big 3 was "Winken, Blinken, and Nod", released by FM Records in 1963.

Tim Rose left the Big 3 in 1964, and Elliot and Hendricks teamed with Canadians Zal Yanovsky and Denny Doherty to form the Mugwumps. This group lasted eight months, after which Cass performed as a solo act for a while. In the meantime, Yanovsky and John Sebastian co-founded the Lovin' Spoonful, while Doherty joined the New Journeymen, a group that also included John Phillips and his wife Michelle.

In 1965, Doherty persuaded Phillips that Elliot should join the group, which she did while the group members and she were vacationing in the Virgin Islands, becoming The Mamas & the Papas.

After the breakup of the Mamas and the Papas, Elliot embarked on a solo singing career. Her most successful recording during this period was 1968's "Dream a Little Dream of Me" from her solo album of the same name, released by Dunhill Records, though it had originally been released earlier that year on the album "The Papas & the Mamas Presented by the Mamas and the Papas".

In October 1968, Elliot made her live solo debut headlining in Las Vegas at Caesars Palace, scheduled for a three-week engagement at $40,000 per week with two shows per night. Because of illness and vocal problems her first show was was a disaster, and her one and only show as it was cancelled after that night.

Elliot appeared in two television variety specials: "The Mama Cass Television Program" (ABC, 1969) and "Don't Call Me Mama Anymore" (CBS, 1973). She guest-hosted for Johnny Carson on "The Tonight Show" and appeared as a guest on the show 13 other times. She also appeared on and co-hosted "The Music Scene" on ABC and was featured on the first "The Midnight Special"on NBC.

Throughout the early 1970s, Elliot continued her acting career, as well. She had a featured role in the movie "Pufnstuf" (1970) and made guest appearances on TV's "The New Scooby-Doo Movies", "Young Dr. Kildare", "Love, American Style", and "The Red Skelton Show", among others.

On April 22, 1974, Elliot collapsed in the California television studio of The Tonight Show immediately before her scheduled appearance on the show. She was treated at a hospital and released, then dismissed the incident as simple exhaustion in interviews.

She finished two weeks of solo concerts at the London Palladium on Saturday night, July 27, and went on a 24-hour celebration. Elliot left that party at 8:00 pm on Sunday, July 28, saying she was tired and needed to get some sleep.

Elliot retired to an apartment in Mayfair at Curzon Place at which singer-songwriter Harry Nilsson allowed her to stay. Several hours after Elliot left Jack Martin's cocktail party she died in her sleep at age 32. According to Keith Simpson, who conducted her autopsy, she died of a heart attack, and there were no drugs in her system.

It was my decision. ❤️
I knew what I was getting myself into.
Nobody made me, nobody put a gun to my head. I wanted it just like that. I knew I’d be tied down somehow. Care for them, feed them, walk them.
It doesn’t matter what the weather is or if I’m in the mood or not.
I promised them that as long as they were with me I will give them everything, take care of them and when they are sick I will take them to the doctor. That they are my babies. ❤️
I knew my purse would be tighter, my clothes covered in dog hair, and my stuff could be ruined, but that was my choice that I made.
Not saying it’s always been that way but it’s worth it.
I can never be mad at them.
The items can be replaced, carpet can be cleaned, my clothes can be washed.
What can’t be replaced, however, are those sparkling eyes that are so happy to see me when I come home that they fall over jumping on me. 🥰 It doesn’t matter if I’m gone for 5 mins or 5 hours. Their affection and unconditional love are irreplaceable. ❤️
The times that they hear me cry or feel my sadness they come poking me with their cold noses and licking me with their slobbery tongues. Always making me laugh and feel loved immediately. ❤️
You don’t even notice the years fly by. Eventually their faces turn grey, movement slows down, they no longer are able to jump when I get home but the excitement is still the same.❤️
Then one day the light starts to fade from their sparkling eyes, they stop going for long walks, and their days are spent laying next to me resting. We may have to go more often to the doctor. I may have to clean up accidents more often.
I wanted this when I decided to bring them into my life, I wanted childhood, youth and old age with all it’s beauties, happy moments and even the worst days with all it’s grudge.
There is not a single moment that I regret!!! I took charge of them when I took them in until the day I have to let them go. 😪
My dogs will never have a new owner, will never end up in a rescue or at a shelter. I’m not moving if they can’t come with me!!! The person who would make me give them up isn’t born yet and never will be. They are part of my life, my family and will stay!!!
I have taken over this. From the first to the last day.
Until Death do us part!!! ❤️❤️❤️
You feel the same, post it with your own dogs.
The more people this reaches might make a difference and help.

Ghosts and spirits:
One of the things that many of my friends don’t understand and that my husband didn’t believe when we were first met and then married is that I have been seeing people who are no longer alive. Some of them are family members and some are complete strangers. My husband surely knew and wouldn’t acknowledge that he was also gifted with this ability. His late aunt told him he was able to see and sense things that others couldn’t. She had and embraced this same gift.
I would love to travel and stay in Bed and Breakfast Inns known for their hauntings. I’m so open to the spirit world that I participated in paranormal investigations and found that I have gifts I never understood. I’m an empath and pick up on the feelings of those who have passed. I’m also a sensitive and know when I’m in the presence of spirits. Sometimes it’s not at all scary; other times it’s downright frightening.

Amen… if our society didn’t place such emphasis on how we look we would all look at ourselves with kinder eyes.

THE CAMERA LIES

If you have ever been frustrated,
trying to photograph the beauty of the moon, or a sunrise.
Then you will know,
that a snapshot is a mere recreation,
of what the human eye sees.
It can’t quite do justice to the beauty we behold.
The same goes for you.
Your beauty is in the eye of your beholder.
If you see a photo of you,
that doesn’t look like how you feel…
that’s exactly what is happening.
Your beauty can’t quite be captured by a camera,
or a filter.
It’s in your energy, your magic,
the light you send out.
And it’s all yours.
And it’s still there,
regardless of what the snapshot shows.

The camera lies.

Or maybe it just cannot comprehend,
how much you really are.

No more wasted beach days. Not one. No more unfulfilled opportunities, worrying about the eyes and judgement of strangers. Instead, absolute and utter abandonment to the spoils of this beautiful life. No one has the space to judge you my friends, they are either in complete enjoyment of the beautiful moment they are experiencing, or they are too busy berating themselves to care. Let go when you are blessed enough to be free in this busy life. Let go and let Mother Nature remind you she can hold you up with her waves as though you are a feather on the wind, you are light. Be light.

Hi, it’s Debbie Rose . I wish I had written this;i; I didn’t want to. lose this list. Please read - many things I’ve said or done that I knew were wrong. Anger sneaks up and sometimes hits us before we’re ready. That’s when I get myself in trouble/

I’m a big fan of women who snort when they laugh.
Women who overshare awkward truths when the conversation stalls.
I’m a big believer in singing loudly in the car whenever possible
and I love pulling alongside a fellow diva doing the same.
I’m a big fan of women who love women,
who spot toilet paper on the shoes and help each other out,
when Mother Nature calls.
I’m a huge believer in comparison being the thief of joy,
that dimming someone else’s light, won’t ever make yours shine brighter.
I just can’t get enough of those women who are unashamedly themselves,
in technicolour glory.
I’m a lover of laughter and those moments when the tears start to flow,
give me life.
I think the best therapy, is quality time with a friend who listens without judgement.
I’m a big fan of women who break, who share,
who rebuild each other and cheer them along the way.
I’m grateful for this world half-full of fabulous females,
I see you all.

This is so cute and is a good space for the fox to rest. He is probably wild and easily spooked; plus, he can carry rabies. He’s so cute to watch but anyone should be cautious around him.

We have a guest..

The best friend you will ever have
can’t even say your name
devotion and love he showers on you
and knows you feel the same

“I just came across this stray dog and he approached me, when I caressed him he grabbed me and wouldn't stop hugging me, he looked at me like that... he wagged his tail excitedly, I couldn't resist and I adopted him..."
Honestly, humanity does not deserve such a pure love! 🐾❤️

Well, it’s Halloween and we have had NO trick or treaters. We never have many because we’re on a dead end and the road is DARK! However, I wish we had a few - we have lots of candy.
I was hoping some of the older kids would come by - you know, the ones some people think too old for Trick or Treating. Well, so they’re seniors in high school; they’re still kids. They are enjoying the last vestiges of childhood. It lasts such a short period of time and then it’s the long awaited adult world.
The illusions of what life would be like as an adult. Who’s going to wash their clothes or cook for them? Who will be right there ready to help out when something hits their pocket. These unexpected money grabbers can break them.
So, they’re 18, they seem out of place, have a costume that’s not really a costume. If they come to my door in the spirit of Halloween I’ll give them candy. I mean, why not?
Childhood should last a bit longer without a time limit. I’m 71 and I’m still a crazy kid!
Happy Halloween to everyone!
