18 years ago this week- June 15, 2003, Gilbert Baker’s 1.25-mile-long 25th anniversary edition of the gay pride flag unfurled for the entire length of Duval Street. The gigantic banner was dubbed the “sea-to-sea rainbow flag,” because it stretched all the way from the Atlantic Ocean to the Gulf of Mexico.

The Poinciana Trees are coming alive in Key West! An estimated 2,000 Poinciana Trees are in Key West, and they are a magnificent symbol of our summer months. They are blooming a bit early this year from stress due to the severe dry conditions we have had. This is the tree on the east side of the Basilica of St. Mary Star of the Sea.

It was our best week of walking tours since the start of the pandemic. Key West is starting to look like its old self (minus the cruise ships!). Hotels are busy, restaurants are busy, Duval is busy, and our tours are at capacity once again. We always limit our tours to 10 guests (special private tours for larger groups can be arranged) to help ensure comfort, safety, and good client/guide interaction during our tours. Thank you to our visitors for supporting us and our eccentric, yet wonderful, island city!

The most photographed spot in Key West and not really the Southernmost Point in the continental U.S. But, still fun. Up until the early 1980’s it was marked only with a wooden sign that “disappeared” with frequency. However, to stop the “disappearing signage” this multi-ton piece of concrete was put in place to replace the wooden sign in 1983. Join us on our Highlights Of Key West walking tour and learn more about this and many other great spots in Key West.
