I spent the last week at band camp with the Pequannock Township High School Marching Band. I have to say I am so impressed with the hard work, dedication, and positive attitude the staff and all the kids had.

This week is no joke, we wake the kids up at 7am, breakfast is at 8 and the 1st of 3 practices start at 9:30. They break for lunch, then another 3-hour practice. Dinner is at 5:30 then back to practice by 6:30 finally done at 9:30pm followed by a 2nd dinner, then lights out at 11pm, now that’s Dedication!

This year's marching band is 90 kids strong, keep an eye out I see amazing things coming from them!

I want to give A BIG thank you to band director Streifer and assistant band director @Bruno Mayoria all the techs, all the chaperones, Wisneski Meyer, chefs DeCumber and Jeff Sidoti, and everyone that helped out You are a group of Amazing parents.

This IS what Pride in Pequannock is all about.

Great news Pequannock we are almost whole again! Most obstructions are cleaned up, most of the polls are in, most of the final connections are being made. Currently there are less than 1000 people without power and that’s changing by the moment. we will keep the pressure on until every single person in Pequannock has power!!

With that said JCP&L, their lineman, the lineman they had brought in from outside of New Jersey have hustled. they are all layered up with safety gear, rubber arm guards, hardhats, gloves, and it’s one heck of a hot and humid day today.

*Update*

The Pompton substation is still out this substation is a priority to get back up. Once this is accomplished and they clear the lines forward of the substation you will see the power coming back pretty quickly. With that said in situations where wires are ripped off of homes and off of poles, this will take more time to rectify.

In the meantime stay away from and DO NOT work on trees with wires tangled in them. Our DPW is working with JCP&L to clear them.

Good morning everyone,

It looks like Pequannock has suffered the brunt of this storm/cell. Here is the current update from my contact at JCP&L:

There are 4,000 Customers out in Pequannock, (as of 6:55 AM) about 2,000 of them are on assigned, dispatched orders. JCP&L's line shop is currently handing out work packets and assigning orders to crews. Pequannock received the most damage from the strong thunderstorm last night out of all of my municipalities. Multiple reports of wires down and poles broken from trees outside of our ROW (Right of Way) in many sections of town. I have a work plan meeting with my line shop at 8-830 this morning and hoping to have some more concrete updates at that point.

Good afternoon Pequannock,

Do you remember how stressful and frustrated we all were being without power from Hurricane Isaias? Could you imagine if we did not get power or the internet back for 6 weeks or more? That is the reality right now in Louisiana.

I am in the City of DeQuincy in Calcasieu Parish Louisiana with Thomas Barthmus (From Pequannock) and we are giving back by supporting the Verizon Response Team. We are helping DeQuincy neighbors by providing internet access, a place to charge their phones and free mophie portable chargers.

I understand how hard this is on the residents as well as the local officials and employees of the town. It looks like Riley Smith DeQuincy Mayor is doing a great job. I want to thank the Cheif of Police Casey Whitehead for stopping by every day to check on us.

Let’s keep the people of DeQuincy in our prayers.
