Term Life and Whole Life Insurance

The two main types of life insurance are Whole Life and Term Life. Put simply a Whole Life policy will last your whole life, and a Term Life policy will last for the “term” of the policy. Typically 10,20, or 30 years. Term coverage is the most affordable option, but won’t last your whole life. If you’re willing to invest more into your life insurance, whole life policies will last your whole life, and have the ability to accrue a cash value that you can borrow from. What is Life Insurance?

Life insurance is a contract between you and an insurance company where you agree to pay premiums to the company, and in return the company will pay your beneficiaries a tax free lump sum if you pass away. For example, say a 40 year old man gets a $100,000 policy for $150 a month. The insurance company will pay $100,000 to the beneficiary if the man passes away so long as he’s paid his premiums.
