Congratulations to all our 2021 Graduates at Bay Springs HS and Stringer Attendance Center! Go be Great! I know each of you will do BIG things! 🎓

West Jasper friends please remember Christy Evans Holifield and the School Board as they meet tonight. They have a major decision to make and the process starts tonight to replace the school district’s superintendent. I am amazed at how she conducts herself and how she prepares for each decision she makes. She doesn’t take her role lightly and listens to concerns like no other.

West Jasper Schools plan for in-person classes The West Jasper School board approved a plan to prepare for in-person classes this fall with lots of COVID-19 safety measures in place.

I am seeing & respect each & every decision on how people feel about starting school. It’s your children’s health and I understand that completely. It’s your decision 100% on whether to send your child this coming year.
But just as I want your child to be safe, I also want the child who is praying for school to start back to be safe too. The child who’s only hug or encouragement comes from a teacher or administrator, the child who’s only hot meal comes from a lunch room cafeteria, the child who only learns how to read or learns math from a teacher. I want those children to be safe as well. I pray daily that there is not one child in our district who feels this way but there are children in other districts who do.
My goal is for ALL of West Jasper to be SAFE!
I promise to do everything in my power for that to happen.

Weekly Census Update: Jasper County only moved up .2% from last week. We are now at 37.4%. This is still very low! Here are you options to complete: Internet (www.my2020census.gov), phone 1-844-330-2020 (English) or 1-844-468-2020 (Spanish), or by mail (if you received a questionnaire by April 1, 2020). Your information is private and this only takes about 5 minutes to complete!

On the other hand, if someone comes to visit you and says they are with the census. Please assess these people with the following information. Do not give any one your personal information unless they have ALL of the following!

May 8, 2020 Update:

Governor Reeves has issued Executive Order 1476 which REQUIRES school districts to offer summer enrichment and learning material to students. West Jasper School district will have a summer enrichment packet pick up day on Wednesday, May 13, 2020, from 11am to 12pm. Also, we will ask that parents return any school owned textbooks, library books, or other school owned property such as graphing calculators etc. The packets will contain enrichment materials for the months of June and July as well as a cover letter with instructions as to when each lesson should be completed and when they are to be returned. Please note that June material should be returned on Friday, June 26, 2020, and July material will be returned when students return to school. Please contact your local school for information.

Also graduation ceremonies scheduled for May 15, 2020 have been postponed . We do still plan to have a traditional graduation at a later date. The graduation date is to be determined and will be dependent upon guidelines issued by state officials as to when and how we may safely gather in public.

West Jasper School District Beginning on Monday, March 30, 2020 West Jasper School District will begin serving free grab and go meals from 11AM to 12 PM to children 18 years or younger at the following locations.

7pm 11/5/19. The Election Day has come to a close. We won’t know results for a little bit but what I do know is I am grateful for this opportunity of the campaign. My family has met many wonderful people & made many new friends & for that I am truly grateful. Tomorrow is a new day and no matter what the outcome I know that I am truly one blessed woman! Thank you all for your love and support ❤️

3 years ago when I was asked to run for school board I told all who asked I would pray about it & that’s exactly what I did. God opened this door for me & I am truly grateful. This has been a wild ride God has sent my family & I on but we wouldn’t take anything for it. I’ve gotten to go to over 600 homes & meet many of you in OUR community. I’ve listened to each of you express the changes you would like to see with our schools. I want what’s best for our students, teachers & community and for our students to have opportunities like never before & I have the background and experience to make that happen!! I want to be your voice on our board & share in the concerns you have. A common theme I heard over & over was we need change & I want to be that change for each of you. If you choose to elect me I will be available to each of you to share in any concerns you have. I ask that you join me in prayer all day tomorrow and as as this election comes to a close tomorrow night, pray no matter what Gods will be done. Thank you again West Jasper for all the support & love for my family over the past weeks. We are truly ONE community ONE family! I ask that you support me & vote Christy Holifield School Board. My husband and I made a wonderful decision for our family to move to where we call home, Jasper County, 20 years ago. Dusty and I both have very deep roots to the very land where we live in Moss. For both of us this land is special, way back to our early childhood years. Our kids have the privilege of both being raised their entire life thus far on the land we played on as children & around the family we love!
