Champagne... For when it's almost 8 o'clock, you worked a whole day at your other job and you forgot you need to make 6 batches of cookie dough. Then forgot you had no brown sugar so you needed to make it. Then forgot you had no cinnamon so you needed to grate it fresh. Then your big mixer, Baron von Mixenburg is being too beefy and keeps popping the breaker. And... You need to make pecan praline ice cream but you haven't made the caramel yet.

I might need another glass... 😆

On the menu today...

As per usual we start with dessert first.... I made cherry crisp and 3 kinds of ice cream; vanilla bean, cappuccino chocolate chunk + cookies and cream.

For lunch Chris is making BLTs, fried chicken sammies and shrimp salad.

I also made 6 loaves of drool worthy cheddar bread. We are open 11 to 5 today, come by!

For the first time in a LONGGGGG time I baked for the for the pure joy of baking. Just a single batch of cinnamon rolls for us to enjoy. My kitchen has been under construction for what feels like forever and it's finally all done. So nice to break it in and experience the kind of joy I had when I first started this adventure. 😍

You know what's been missing from pumpkin pie?! Crumble. Everything is better with crumble on it.. I made this little cutie for our Thanksgiving celebration. I'll be making more on Saturday. Come get them Saturday, while they last! 😍 Happy thanksgiving!

Ps.. obviously I'll have fresh whipped cream top it with us you stay to eat it. Can't have pumpkin pie without whipped cream. I'm not crazy!

Bonsoir from France! We are sitting in our Airbnb in the Champagne region overlooking a beautiful vineyard all decked out in autumn colors. It’s tonight for us so we are enjoying a glass of champagne while we write the menu for the weekend. Why have we not done this before?! It’s so beautiful and relaxing! We took time to enjoy each other (and food as evidenced in the photos) for the first time in months and months. (maybe even a year?!) We are together a fair amount but we are ALWAYS working. We almost forgot what it was like to just be married instead of being business partners all the time.

In other news, come help us celebrate!! The food truck has been open 1 year today!!! Thank you for a year of amazing! We’ll be open this weekend with our full menu on Saturday + Sunday and a smaller menu on Friday. We hope to see you for lunch and a glass of wine. We'll have a Sunnyside grilled cheesie, tomato soup, turkey sandwiches, chicken wings + more!

I’m sure if you are anything like me by the time Saturday rolls along you’ll need an excuse to leave the house! We’ll have yummy food, live music and wine. I also hear that Chris is going to be making eggnog ice cream. OMG I cannot wait! Chris made the most amazing shrimp tacos a few weeks ago, they sold out in a heartbeat. You’ve all been emailing to ask when we are we going to have them again. Well…. mark your calendars!! We’ll have them again the first weekend of December!

I got recently got my hands some heirloom wheat from {thanks }
It's 3 times of the cost of my current flour but..
some of you may already know my body doesn't tolerate wheat well. I know this if an affliction that a lot of you share with me. I don't know about you but being able to eat wheat again is worth a lot to me!!

After some research I've discovered that for me it's the type of wheat that is grown + the farming practices. That's why I'm so excited to test out this Sonora white flour from a local mill.

We are testing out pie dough first, it definitely needed more liquid then I was used to but... It seemed to come together well. Later this week we'll be trying out pot pie with this dough. I'll post updates when I have them!

Isn't this just so beautiful!?! I don't often get to enough time to enjoy my own backyard between our 2 businesses + our nonprofit. That is going to change!

You may have noticed that I haven't announced a preorder menu or even a schedule for August. That's because I'm not going to be taking any orders this month!

We are taking a pause this month. A pause to reassess priorities. A pause to realize that I don't ALWAYS have to do more. A pause to learn that I am enough and I do enough. A pause to learn how to take on less. A pause to recover from burnout. Maybe this sounds silly to you and maybe it strikes you at your core. Either way, I'm going to take the time to focus on bringing the joy back to the kitchen.

In the meantime, we are still open! Tim is running the winery ( ) in our absence and we have a designed a simple menu with choices like charcuterie, local goat cheese + hummus all paired with the delicious crackers I made yesterday. He'd love to see you Saturday + Sunday 11-4 to enjoy a snack with a glass of wine + watch the monsoons roll in.

In case you needed a reminder: not everything turns out! Skills take time and practice. You AREN'T going to nail it on your first try and that's ok. I've gotten so comfortable baking what I do well that I haven't had a flop in quite some time or tried anything new for fear of failing. Time to get out of my comfort zone! I tried my hand at pretzel buns and it was a whole lotta nope on a rope. 🤷‍♀️ The pretty ish hamburger bun didn't taste great, the uglier than all get out hot dog bun was mega delicious but so unattractive. 😂 I tried two recipes, I'll try the ugly ones again and work on my skills. 💪🏼

Mine is hands down ice cream. It's one thing I can't resist. I got my vanilla beans in this week so I'll be trying my hand at vanilla bean ice cream this week.

Thanks to everyone who came out this weekend! The avocado toasties were a hit! 😍

Our schedule for the summer is going to look a bit different. Somehow people don't know how amazing Sonoita is in the summer. 🤷‍♀️ It was 67 degrees while we enjoyed our coffee this morning! 🤯That being said, it's a bit slow in our area. We are going to take advantage of that and enjoy some much needed r + r throughout the summer and finally have some time to get back into the test kitchen. What do you want to see us try most?!

I got my hands on the most beautiful heirloom tomatoes today. Aren't they just gorgeous?! They are going to be the belle of the ball this weekend. They'll be featured in our caprese, BLT and a knockout turkey sandwich this weekend. You can see the whole menu on our website: breasbakery.com

For dessert I'll be featuring apple crisp and ice cream sandwiches with mint dark chocolate chip cookies. 🤤 They are going to be amazing... Think thin mints but in a soft chewy cookie.

Did you know some people actually order my cinnamon rolls WITHOUT frosting? 😲 It was totally shocked the first time it happened. It seems absolutely unthinkable to me but it must mean that they are so good they don't need frosting???

Speaking of cinnamon rolls... I'm making some tomorrow with a 5 pm pickup. If you want some just send me a message by 6pm tonight! I rarely do cinnamon rolls so this is your chance!

Chris and I have been looking at commercial ice cream makers. It's tough to find a good one. I really want to make my own ice cream flavors. Hopefully, coming soon.... 🍨

There is nothing better than French Toast. You know the really good kind made with hearty bread?? It's my absolute favorite topped with some fruit and fresh whipped cream.

Rancho Rossa Vineyards & Rescued Hearts Cellars is doing kitten yoga this Saturday morning at 9 so we are opening an hour early to share brunch with you from 10-11. Plus we'll have mango mimosas, umm.. YUM!!
