I lift my eyes up to the mountains.
Does my hope come from the mountains?
No.
My hope comes from You,
Maker of Heaven
Creator of the Earth and the mountains.
He does not grow tired or weary
His patience never fails
He is an eternal God
Immune to the effects of time and corrosion
Ever Perfect. Life eternal.
That Which Overcomes Death and the Grave.
He Who Sits Upon the Throne
In Righteousness and Grace.
My Hope comes from the Lord.
And the Lord is My Shepherd
My Friend. My Counselor and Guide.
My Tutor in the Ways of Grace.
Holy is His Name
Yet He let’s us draw near
The paradox of worship:
The worshipper is not worthy
But the Most High of the Heavens
Sacrificed Himself
so that we can be present to His Blessings
Restoration.
Healing.
Forgiveness.
Hope.
My Hope Comes from Jesus.
What an honor to represent House of Hope Ministry tonight at their annual Gala. House of Hope is an incarnational movement of love within mobile home communities...there needs to be a “people plant” (a person who lives in a mobile home with the purpose of creating connection and being a Christlike neighbor) in every trailer park. I pray that my vulnerable sharing tonight inspired generosity to sustain this year’s budget and move into an abundance of blessing Others in years to come.
My cup is full and running over when I think of all the wonderful people who surround and support me. Thanks to my family and my ladies and my son (all the kids really) for showing up to my life - not just tonight but continually. These pictures are of some of the best humans I know.
On a side note:
I really miss public speaking. I think I love it as much as I enjoy writing. Please pray for God to open more doors of opportunity for me to speak and share about the healing, transformative power of Jesus in the coming months.
I had a pretty active account in 2023 on Facebook. 2024 came in with a new mindset to be even more like my Savior. Inspired in part by walking Backwards Thru the Romans Road to Salvation.
The mindset was built upon what I have chronicled through 2021-the present, here on Facebook and through other Indigo Cruz ministries. The principles I learned to practice and then taught to others - and the direct reading and teaching of the Word of the Lord has changed me - Hallelujah!
I am once again at a point of life where my mindset is new.
The Romans Road project came to a construction point, a slowing down and working on some things so far this year, and my friends we are still in Romans 10!
I’ll take this moment to say also that the work on the Road of Salvation brought pathways in my life off of Facebook that have allowed God to meet my needs and grow my life in a multitude of ways.
Keep your spiritual eyes on Jesus. There is no one like him. And stay tuned for the next chapters of the book of Romans. A very challenging book of *Hope for Everyone*

Craving the Depths of The Love of God.
The magnitude of God's love for me makes me want more of it; that's what love does: it makes you want more. The magnitude of God’s love causes me to praise; and in the presence of Jesus, I find myself craving more of Him. The more I know about Jesus and the more I know Him personally, the more I am convinced Others truly have a deep need to know Him.
Maybe I'm a strange person in 2024, but I actually believe that Jesus is alive. Maybe we can't see Him with our eyes right now, but we can sense Him in our spirits. …and Jesus does something in our souls…He stirs up our humanness with His God-ness and makes us come to terms with our sin in repentance. And He understands us in all our frailties because He too was human and knew temptation and had flesh.
The death penalty that Jesus endured; He did that for me and for you. I really believe that it’s true. There is more to the story than most understand. Have you heard of the covering of blood of the lamb over the doorway of the human heart? That is the blood of Jesus! It paid the debt owed to ultimate death so that We can ultimately live.
If We pause to ponder
The depth of the love of God for Us -
that He would sacrifice Himself
His Son
to save Us from the deception of the Tempter and Accuser of Our Souls,
And if We are taught
just a fragment of the Truth,
then We might just understand better
the glimmers of Hope that stood out
on the dark nights of the Soul.
We were all once damned
to the dark cold night of gnashing teeth and endless conscious pain in lakes of fire; and it was Jesus who set Us free.
All of Us.
If we will just let the door be closed to death
and invite instead Jesus’
Spirit of Holiness
Life, Light and Love -
The cleansing of our lifetimes of wrongdoings comes over us as He washes Us clean, forgiven and free.
When We remember We are a Freed People,
We tend to crave more Freedom.
When We spend time in God’s Word -
the Story of God’s Love for Us
preserved for Us
In the Bible
We break and then germinate
In ways that make us crave
the ache of growing
because God hears our prayers and groaning and gives Us
The Water We need to live.

Four Questions and a Prayer
Romans 10, Part One
Verses 1-4
There is just so much depth to Romans 10 that I am going to post about a small section at a time to get thru this chapter. Today we focus in on Roman’s 10:1-4
Question 1 - what is my first impression of this text?
-Of course, reading and teaching about the Jewish people in 2024 makes my mind think both of ancient Israel - addressed in scripture - and the Jewish people today, both in Israel and the diaspora. In a recent conversation about the Israel/Hamas war, I drew attention to the fact that Israel, while God’s Chosen Covenant People, does not acknowledge Jesus as Lord, crucified, dead, risen, Alive and Available to believers in Him. (I personally support Israel’s
Full right to defend herself, but I also do not rubber stamp approve of all their dealings through history and this war just because they are Israel. There is sin in every camp.)
Jesus is the fulfillment of the ancient Old Tesament Covenant, and to reject this Truth and salvation leads to extremism and a path that is out of alignment with the righteousness of God. The section of scripture says it better than I ever could. “They don’t understand that Christ gives to those who trust in him everything they are trying to get by keeping his laws. He (Jesus) ends all that,” Romans 10:4, The Living Bible.
Question 2 - what question did I have before reading that the text answers/addresses?
I have more of an affirmation to a sad irony than a formulated question:
I have a deep love and respect for the Jewish faith, people and history. It has always made me sad to recognize the truth presented in verse 3: “For they (observant Jewish people) don’t understand that Christ has died to make them right with God. Instead they are trying to make themselves good enough to gain God’s favor by keeping the Jewish laws and customs, but that is not a God’s way of salvation.”
Question 3 - what question do I have now after reading this chapter?
How can believers in Jesus help non-believers understand His sacrifice, it’s impact and offer of salvation? Not just for Jewish non-believers, but Others as well. I share Paul’s hope shared in verse one: the longing of my heart and my prayer is that the Jewish people (and all the peoples of the world) might be saved.”
Question 4 - what nugget of truth/word of wisdom can I glean from the text and apply to my life?
Everything we try to get by being good enough has been GIVEN to believers in Jesus. Right standing before God has been granted by grace (not earned) and through faith. It’s available to me and to everyone I meet.
In a conversation about evangelism within the “evangelical” church I learned that within my lifetime the percentage of evangelical Christians who actively practice sharing their faith with Others has dropped from 50% to 5%. Part of that I think is that we don’t want to be cliche, and born again Christians have become a caricature in the modern mindset - and not one that we want to be identified with. But the study cited made a coorelation: perhaps the number of Christian’s who actually believe Jesus is the only way to salvation has also significantly dropped. I think Romans 10:1-4 makes a pretty good case for Jesus as essential for all.
What is my prayer in response?
Lord, it is my prayer that Jesus’ name be lifted High in every place, home and heart. I pray for the salvation of Others, those who do not believe because they do not understand. Use your people to help the world hear and understand your truth, and the power of your love, forgiveness and new life available only through Jesus.
Amen.
Lord, Help me be an amazing boss today, tomorrow and the months/years to come. Thanks for trusting me with the awesome people I lead. Thanks for Your Leadership in my life. Help me lead with love and love like You.
Amen
Be patient with yourself. 🫶🏼

How do you get to know God better each day?
I have neglected posting for long enough.
Thank you all who follow my content, for bearing with me as I create and write, even as I wrestle with scripture and life and change and truth and grace.
The long view I take on all content I create for social media is that I take my writings on a particular theme and put them together in packages. These come together progressively, over time with patient practice and teaching Others.
I now have prayer journal calendars developed from The Prayerful Path curriculum; I have workbooks and video teaching packages, ebooks and coaching models that have all been developed in my live interfaces - it’s exciting work, actually, and I always have a handful of projects I’m working on.
My work on The Romans Road, both the backwards study through my “four questions and a prayer” model on Facebook, and the TikTok video series about “The Story of a People” has developed enough to be my next collection for publication, and I allow myself plenty of time for the process.
Stick with me as we continue into Romans 10 next. And like, share, promote this page. I go through these creative stages publically because I do love the encouragement to finish the projects I begin 🙂

Romans 11 continued
Another four questions and prayer before moving on to Romans 10.
**What is my big-picture impression after reading and rereading this passage?** Like layers in a tree, the salvation of Israel and the Nations form interdependent circles in the realization of prophecy through time. There is both a number of Jews and a number of Gentiles who are chosen and a remnant of their generations through grace and faith. The disobedience of one group invites the other to grow more into leadership and influence and number, and then the cycle of the growing groups leads to disobedience, and this invites the original group to prosper. In this way both are included in Salvation. (This is not the same agricultural comparison Paul uses in this passage. This is just another word picture that comes to mind when I read this passage).
**What question did I have before coming to the text does the Scripture address?** As I read Chapters 12-16 of Romans, it was clear that this book was written to a diverse group of people. I wondered if the book would spell out exactly what united them, and what brought them together pursuing the lifestyle outlined in the last part of Romans.
I've described it before as a "raised bar" standard of living, and it is both noble and humble in its details. Chapter 11 here describes God's inclusive plan of redemption for both Jews and Gentiles, and places the believers in the center of God's cosmic and unfathomable grace.
It is the nature of grace that brings God's people together. When we remember what grace cost, though free to us, it was the life of Jesus that was payment...and Jesus is no ordinary man. He was the promised one, God's own son, who gave up more than His blood to redeem mankind - Jew and Gentile - and bring us from our status as enemies of God and prisoners of disobedience into salvation status because of His mercy. When we remember those details about grace, we are brought together in likeminded pursuit of demonstrating God's steadfastness and His Lovingkindness. This is what motivates believers from different mindsets to make space for one another's weaknesses and differences. This is what empowers love to enemies, submission to authority, and a commitment to both non-judgement and selfless humility.
**What question do I have now as a result of this text?**
I still wonder what leads up to Paul's introduction in Romans 11: Did God reject His own people? Paul ends his statements about Israel in chapter 11 and moves swiftly to the inclusion of the Gentiles explained through His grafting analogy. But, Paul begins this discussion in either chapter 9 or 4, but in our study we haven't covered that material yet. It's important to see threads of themes through scripture's narrative, and while reading backwards makes the study a bit clumsy, it is also easier to point out the obvious threads. We have more to discuss and learn from Israel in this text.
**What nugget of truth or word of wisdom can I glean and apply?**
I love the image that Paul paints of a cultivated tree pruned of dead and fruitless branches and left nearly a stump, then being host to a wild shoot grafted into its root system. Olives are known for quickly sending shoots and its ability to merge well with existing networks of roots. The interdependence of the wild shoot with the original root emphasizes the importance of the church's Jewish heritage, and Paul is direct in pointing out that both Jewish and Gentile branches must remain obedient in order to remain alive on the vine. Disobedience leads to death and pruning. There is also the hope of pruned branches (Israel) being regrafted into the original trunk.
**What is my prayer in response?**
God on High, I thank you for Divine Grace that extends towards all of humanity, even before we know we need it. Thank you for your Gospel of inclusion and provision which you wove into human history through the narrative of Your chosen people, Israel. Thank you that your love is relentless and patient, faithful and stubborn. Bear with your people as we wrestle with you and with one another. Teach us season by season, day by day, how to respond to new scenarios with the humility and mercy we have been shown.
Four questions and a prayer.
Romans 11, just an introduction
**What word or idea/initial thoughts**
This passage is too full to cover in one sitting. I’m taking it section by section. Scripture has been read, studied and divided into segments by believers over the ages.
Choosing to read by chapter, by verse or by section is one way we lean into the tradition segment of the Wesleyan quadrilateral. We look to Scripture, Solo Scritura, as we seek Truth. And we also know that logic, tradition and experience also inform our understanding and application.
I open chapter 11 with this thought because we have just finished looking at the chapters on the glorious opportunity for unity and mutual self giving for the cause of growth in the kingdom of God…and now we get to some nuts and bolts of the kingdom. These chapters are rich and require an approach with all our capacities engaged to dissect and correctly make relevant to today.
I am taking the liberty in this post to provide context for our discussion of Israel by referencing other passages of scripture. It’s best to read the scripture alongside the commentary here.
**What question did I have before?**
How did Jesus himself view His people, the people of Israel? It seems from Jesus’ words in Luke 14 and Matthew 22, there is a distinction between being chosen, which all of those ethnically part of Israel are included in a special rite of first invitation; and **choosing back.**
Those who do not choose to accept Jesus as Messiah by faith may be ethnically part of the family of Jacob, but have nothing to do with the legacy of obedient, observant faith found in Abraham. They are not chosen because they do not choose to accept the invitation.
It has always been God’s redemptive plan to include all nations. While those outside the ethnic nation of Israel cannot say they are part of God’s chosen by the blood of their ancestors, they *can* say they are part of God’s chosen by participating in faith by the blood of Jesus. Faith is counted as righteousness and anything that is not coming from faith is sin.
And both groups - the initially invited, and those last minute guests who get to feast at the table prepared for Others, are expected to come prepared, in wedding clothes, not rags (representing a transformative experience of faith that trades a life pursing sin for a life pursuing righteousness).
**What question do I have now?**
My question comes directly from the opening of chapter 11. Paul starts by saying “Did God reject his own people (Israel)?”
What comes before this chapter to make Paul open this way? Remember, we’re reading the book backwards so our context is the outcome of what we read now: chapter 11 leads up to what we’ve already read which is a glorious and elevated, humble yet noble, way to live outlined in chapters 12-16.
I also question the tension between getting to choose and being chosen, especially with the indication that God hardens hards and darkens understanding. If we had read the previous chapters of Romans already, we would recall the history lessons outlined in the opening chapters.
God loved people, but does give us over to darkness if we are intent on pursuing it. And in my experience the hardening of my heart and darkening of my understanding has happened in seasons where I made a subtle but also deliberate decision to violate the Spiritual conscience of holiness alive within me.
Like Jimmy Cricket to Pinocchio, The Holy Spirit clings to us for our protection and blessing, but can be easily ignored, hushed or cast aside if we are intent on pursuing our own pleasure.
**What Nugget of Truth or word of wisdom do I glean?**
Typically I’ve chosen one verse to highlight in answering this question. But seeing as this is an introduction, my nugget of truth is the importance of the wedding garment. The parable told by Jesus found in Like 14 and Matthew 22 is lyricized in this great song. Check out the lyrics for the word of wisdom, and make it our prayer today that we would choose participation in God’s kingdom.

Happy New Year!
I pray 2024 is your best year yet, in Jesus name.
When I make videos, I try to imagine an individual person sitting with me in my living room. In my imagination I have a fireplace and we just get to sit back and talk about deep things. We share and we laugh and we enjoy moments of thoughtful silence. We might feel heaviness or sadness together, and then we breathe in the Hope of gladness and joy for the moment. This video is a long pause in my messy living room. It’s rambly and zigzaggy like we get when we are trying to ponder ourselves. It’s my New Years Blessing to You. You will bless me by watching till the abrupt ending :-)
