This is the least gruesome photo of his leg 😅, but the laceration is healing nicely with the help of come circulation tapings! And as shown in the second photo, Equi-tape has also been a huge help in keeping bandages on his leg in the early healing stages (with padding in between the wound and the tape of course!)

Gemma has been a critical part of owner’s life for a long time, so it was extremely exciting and rewarding to share these tapings with her family so they can keep her comfortable and happy!

Gemma has some issues with her left front leg that have become more prominent recently; specifically with her knee and fetlock. She is sporting a knee/carpus support, a level 2 fetlock support, and a pregnant mare support taping.

My paint mare is definitely not a happy camper when she’s in heat 😵‍💫😅 hormones a flowing and general discomfort takes it’s toll, but this taping has been a game changer for her and others like her! Love this taping and how effective it is! ❤️🖤❤️

I love a good hock taping, especially on a handsome little bay 🔥🩵

By far my favorite tool/product I use for the business!

🙌🏼NEVER tape over an OPEN or HEALING wound 🙌🏼
Much like how you would never use any kind of tape or adhesive patch on an open wound on yourself, the same applies for your horse.

➡️ When you remove the tape, you will just pull off the scrab, reopen the wound, or even cause more damage.
➡️ Kinesiology tape, like equi-tape, is not sterile or have any antibacterials on it, thus you will be possibly introducing bacteria into the wound.
➡️ ALWAYS use a sterile gauze pad over the wound and then you can easily use tapes like equi-tape around or over it to secure it!

Equi-Tape/kinesiology tapes are an amazing tool, but you need to be aware of the proper uses and ways to apply it.

Picture for reference- Bug here had sutures along his back after a kissing spine surgery, so I applied a fascia release taping AROUND the area that was healing and not over it.

This is a 1 HR difference using a muscle relaxation taping… and y’all… just wow!

Why are fetlock support tapings such a powerful tool for equine owners? 🤔

1.) DURABLE 💪🏼
➡️Once on, the horse is able to be exposed to water (baths, mud, rain, etc.) and the environment without much worry of the tape coming off! A good application should last through a lot of exposure to the elements, but being vigilant on checking the tape is still important to increase its life!

2.) PREVENTATIVE 🤕
➡️ injury prevention is such an important topic, especially in horses returning to work or young horses that are still growing! Preventing and reducing the risk of injuries is always a win!

3.) SUPPORT 🩹
➡️These tapings allow full flexibility of the limb while still providing the utmost support! Acting as en external set of tendons and ligaments in some cases to really add extra support!

4.) VARIOUS LEVELS 📶
➡️You are able to decide what level of support your horse needs-
ex: a horse returning to work after an injury may need more support in the beginning and then lower support as they progress!

5.) FULL FLEXIBILITY 👋🏼
➡️There is no flexibility lost with these tapings! Full range of motion is so important, so not inhibiting that is a must!

6.) APPLICATION TIME ⏰
➡️Based on tapings I have done personally, these applications can have 1-2 weeks of life! The most important part of any application is maintaining as much of the recoil of the tape as possible!

*Each taping/case is unique, especially when it comes to outside variables and the use of that limb. Always be considerate of each situation!*

A little muscle relaxation and some peppermint colloidal silver in his nebulizer treatment for Mr. Patch before he starts racing again!! ❤️
