Due to the abundance of processed foods and unhealthy additives in our western food supply, weight gain and obesity has become a prevalent issue in our society. However, there are steps you can take to counter act the weight gain and health damaging effects consumption of these foods cause. Here are 5 sure fire steps you can take to loss body fat in a healthy manner and improve your overall internal health.
1. Cut Liquid Sugars – Many people consume an extremely large amount of simple sugar via liquid sugar in juices, sodas, teas, coffee, smoothies, etc. Liquid sugar is one of the most prevalent and dangerous forms sugar due to it’s rapid absorption in blood stream. It spikes glucose ultimately creating more stored fat and excessive stress on your pancreas. Making it a goal to drink water and unsweetened versions of coffee or tea will greatly reduce your intake of unhealthy sugar, reduce your overall calorie intake, and allow your body to utilize more of your stored fat as energy.
2. Start Intermittent Fasting - Intermittent fasting (IF) is an eating pattern where you cycle between periods of eating and fasting. There are many different methods (i.e. time periods) used for intermittent fasting, however, studies have shown the 16/8 method which involves fasting for 16 hrs and eating within an 8 hr window, to be the most beneficial. Intermittent fasting promotes fat burning, boosts metabolism, strengthens, increases cellular repair, strengthens immune system, and reduces inflammation. In addition to the many benefits, IF also improves discipline and helps you break food addictions.
3. Stop Eating Vegetable Oils and Seed Oil – Removing these industrial toxic oils from your diet (Canola, Corn, Cottonseed, Soy, Sunflower, Safflower, Grapeseed, and Rice bran) will greatly improve your weight loss results along with many other health benefits.
Industrial seed/vegetable oils are the highly processed oils extracted from soybeans, corn, rapeseed (canola), cottonseed and sunflower and safflower seeds. After the seeds are gathered, they are heated to extremely high temperatures to oxidize the fatty acids. This creates byproducts that promote chronic inflammatory conditions making it difficult to burn fat and are very harmful to your health.
4. Do an Herbal Cleanse – Doing an herbal cleanse can be a powerful metabolic booster especially if you’ve never done one before. The body stores toxins in your fat cells, they serve as protectors of your system. Due to the many food and industrial chemicals we are exposed to throughout our lives, you are likely storing toxins within your fat cells that make them more reluctant to being metabolized for energy in the interest of keeping stored chemicals from causing stress or damage to your system. In short, your body will resist releasing fat where toxins are stored making it harder to loss weight. Therefore, doing an herbal cleanse with chelating herbs which binds and removes many
5. Exercise – I’d be remiss as a trainer had I left out the fact that exercise consistency as one of the guaranteed ways to lose weight. A consistent exercise routine is extremely important in not only losing unwanted fat, it’s also super important in maintaining healthy muscle function, bone density, and reducing your risk of chronic illness & disease. Many studies have shown exercising consistently for only 2-3 per week can promote healthy weight loss and greatly improve your quality of life.
How we nurture ourselves in the present will shape how we show up for ourselves in the future.
Make time for stillness and reflection...Be intentional and unapologetic about your commitment to balance and restoration.
Happy Women's History Month
..because "winning" is a personal journey. .. it is living up to the expectations we set for ourselves not what others set for us.
Winning is showing up and understanding that showing up with our truth and authenticity in tact is enough.
Winning is replacing our temptation to compete, wit our desire to uplift our fellow sister.
Trust in abundance. Trust in your unique footprint and path,. Know that you are enough and remember there is room for every woman to win.

8 TOXIC SEED OILS THAT ARE DAMAGING YOUR HEALTH
The eight industrial toxic seed oils are Canola, Corn, Cottonseed, Soy, Sunflower, Safflower, Grapeseed, and Rice bran.
Industrial seed oils are the highly processed oils extracted from soybeans, corn, rapeseed (canola), cottonseed and sunflower and safflower seeds. After the seeds are gathered, they are heated to extremely high temperatures to oxidize the fatty acids. This creates byproducts that are harmful to your health.
Omega-6s are found in oils such as corn, safflower, sunflower, soy and vegetable and products made with those oils. Excess consumption of omega-6s can trigger the body to produce pro-inflammatory chemicals.
What’s wrong with industrial seed oils?
There are six main problems with industrial seed oils, all of which play a significant role in chronic inflammatory diseases.
The consumption of industrial seed oils represents an evolutionary mismatch.
Eating industrial seed oils raises our omega-6-to-omega-3 fatty acid ratios, with significant consequences for our health.
Industrial seed oils are unstable and oxidize easily.
They contain harmful additives.
They’re derived from genetically modified crops.
When industrial seed oils are repeatedly heated (as restaurants do in fryers), even more toxic byproducts are created.
How are industrial seed oils making us sick?
Industrial seed oils are far from the “healthy” label they carry. A number of chronic inflammatory diseases have been linked to a number of chronic health problems such as:
Asthma
Autoimmune disease
Cognitive and mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, cognitive decline, dementia, and even Alzheimer’s disease.
Diabetes and obesity
Heart disease (they are far from being heart healthy!)
Gut health issues such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBD) and inflammatory bowel disease (IBS)
Inflammation
Infertility
Macular degeneration
Osteoarthritis
The best thing you can do for your own health and the health of your family is to get rid of all vegetable oils and margarines from your home. Simply throw them out. Replace them with saturated fats for cooking and extra virgin olive and avocado oil for dressing.
Summary:
At this point, it should be clear that we want to avoid omega-6 fats in our cooking oil. The following is a good graphic to represent what to avoid.Oils from tropical plants such as cacao, coconut, and palm are lowest in omega-6, while oils from cold-weather plants such as sunflower and soybean are highest in omega-6 and best avoided.Oils from tropical plants such as cacao, coconut, and palm are lowest in omega-6, while oils from cold-weather plants such as sunflower and soybean are highest in omega-6 and best avoided.

Hapy Black History Month!
"We will never understand where we are, if we don't know where we've been"... Cheryl Lynn Jones
Over a decade ago I learned about a piece of history that changed the course of my life forever. It was a 400-year old story about brave enslaved Africans who created a unique form of martial arts to free themselves from captivity.
I was so inspired by this piece of history that it led me to create the Rhythm Rumble Workout. The sticks we use in this workout represent the machetes that were used by these enslaved Africans in their fight for liberation.
Since this time, the Rhythm Rumble workout concept has been compromised. It's name changed, the historical origin of it's story erased and sold back to the public as a "rock-music inspired" workout. The sticks are now said to represent drumsticks and participants are being encouraged to "rock out."
While this kind of cultural misappropriation is nothing new, the irony of it is astounding, considering Rhythm Rumble Workout
was created to celebrate Black people's liberation from this very act of historical and cultural pirating, misappropriating and profiteering.
In the spirit of Black History Month, take a moment to learn the true origin of the Rhythm Rumble Workout, the ORIGINAL stick workout. Click the video below...
Remember, we will never understand where we are, if we don't know where we've been. Happy Black History Month.
