Thanks to a Walmart donation a Get Connected 815 "Invest in Yourself" Focused Deterrence participant has been able to get back on the road to school and work! Marshion O. was selected into our Focused Deterrence program last year. Since becoming apart of the "Invest in Yourself" movement with Get Connected 815 Marshion has been quite engaged with investing in him self. He has been at his place of employment for over a year, participated in several workshops and Focus Groups for re-entry individuals to understand the needs of the population. One of Marshion's biggest goals was to enroll in a GED program! He knew this would be a challenge because he currently works the night shift. However, Marshion also knows a good education can help sustain his accomplishments and push him further towards success. Get Connected provided Marshion with a laptop for school, resources and support to achieve his goal and he is now enrolled in a GED program and continues to walk the road to success! Get Connected discovered Marshion had a transportation challenge with his vehicle and he needed a push to literally get him back on the road so he wouldn't miss work or school. Our partners at 5th 3rd bank was able to assist us with providing $100 from our WALMART DONATION for Marshion to put towards repairs for his vehicle so he wouldn't miss school and work. Walmart donated $1000 towards our Invest in Yourself programming and Marshion is yet another recipient of Walmarts donation, thank you Walmart #1955 & Steph (Store Manager) for your generous donation. We want to keep you posted on your giving and how it is impacting our community. Stay tuned $805.00 more dollars to invest in our participants future in efforts to reduce gun violence in our community.
