Hi, My name is Ken Humberston. I am your Clackamas County Commissioner. For more information check o
Facts > feelings.
We were 4 days with out power except we had a generator so no problem. Am buying new larger one to hook up to house and run entire home when this happens again. However our backpacking gear plus small generator got us buy along with plenty of firewood. We were able to help neighbors with a place to get warm and hot coffee. Plus run a few errands for them when things began to get back to normal. I highly recommend you have a generator even a small suitcase size of about 2000 watts. That will run your refrigerators and a few lights maybe a. Small heater This will happen again.
Opinion | Why Are Republican Presidents So Bad for the Economy? G.D.P., jobs and other indicators have all risen faster under Democrats for nearly the past century.
It's been a busy couple of weeks. Lots of projects around the house taking up most of my time plus some good reading- Obama's latest and Bonhoeffer. Lots of history and philosophy to catch up on. We have been doing our civic duty . I donated blood a the VFW this weekend and Grace and I continue to deliver food to the rural senior centers. Very glad to be on the delivery end and not the receiving end. Counting our blessings. If you have time to volunteer to help others , look around- there is plenty of need and opportunity. The pics below are of Former Chair Bernard packing food boxes and my wife Grace carting boxes into Estacada Senior Center. Stay safe, Ken
ps stopped for Joe's donuts too- yummmmmmm
Today is Martin Luther King Day, a day we both celebrate and reflect upon. We celebrate the work of a proudly decent man who worked peacefully towards achieving the goal of equality for all. We reflect upon the successes and the work that remains to be done. While discrimination in many forms continues to exist, hunger, limited opportunity, poverty and unaffordable healthcare are still with us also. Dr. King often spoke of these problems as well and exhorted us to work on those issues also. Today let us rededicate ourselves to achieving, in all ways, the creed " we hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal" and to remember the original motto of America, inscribed upon our currency-" E Pluribus unum" - "out of many, One" . There is much work to be done!

Ken Humberston reflects on term as Clackamas County commissioner Building relationships, advocating on behalf of veterans mark elected official's top priorities
Dave and Goose are thankful for the County Commissioners who take COVID seriously.
I write today to say thank you to the citizens of Clackamas County and, particularly, the people who worked so hard in this election in support of our campaign. It has been an honor to serve Clackamas County and a joy to make the progress we have made in so many areas. Because of your trust, we have brought millions of dollars in construction work to the county. We have housed many veterans, and hundreds of others in new facilities. We have saved millions of taxpayer dollars with our hi speed internet access program, attracted a new Cross-laminated timber company to Estacada and prepared to begin the first land bank authority in the state. That will attract many new family wage businesses in the future. Waiting in the wings is a carbon sequestration project I had hoped to start as part of our environmental sustainability program which has also made progress in the last four years. We trimmed our budget AND cut 200 pages of rules and regulations- when was the last time you saw a local government do that? We resolved the Stafford land use issue and numerous other lawsuits that were the direct result of my predecessors unwillingness to engage productively with our cities. Finally, we bit the bullet and raised the VRF which has resulted in 50 % more road projects in Clackamas County ,making a dent in the 300 million dollar road maintenance backlog.
On a personal note, I have attended more than 100 community meetings and events, especially in our rural communities, too often ignored, keeping my promise to make certain the rural parts of our countys' voices were heard as well as the urban parts.
Lastly, I want to thank all of you who worked so hard on this campaign. We ran an honest, positive campaign, focused on the important issues and did not go negative nor disingenuous on our opponent , unlike him. We can be proud that we adhered to our values and did not sacrifice our honor. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your work, friendship and support,
Your commissioner always,
Ken Humberston

As we come to the end of the campaign season, I want to thank all of you who have voted for me and/or worked so hard on this campaign. As in the first campaign over 4 years ago, without you I would not be here today nor have helped move our County forward. To those of you who may not have voted for me, my pledge, as before, should I be fortunate enough to be reelected, is to continue to serve all the citizens of Clackamas County, regardless of political persuasion or any particular "ism.”
I believe Clackamas County should be a welcoming community for all, and am committed to principles of equity diversity and inclusion for all- A welcoming environment of respect for employees and for all who come to our county for service.
As we go forward and prepare for the next few years we must be aware that the region will be home to almost 1 million more people in the next 10 years. We must prepare the infrastructure of roads, schools, water and sewer, jobs, homes, internet etc for those who choose Clackamas as their home, as many will. To that end I hope to continue to work on bringing more jobs in the wood processing industry, metals fabrication and other industries to Clackamas. County. I want to continue to expand access to hi speed internet throughout the underserved areas of the county. I want to repurpose abandoned industrial properties for more local family wage jobs especially in our rural communities, making more jobs available closer to home. I hope to continue to support my colleagues who work on other areas of interest- Commissioner Savas and our transportation network, Commissioner Fischer and the social services needs of our citizens, Commissioner Schrader and the workforce training issues and many other initiatives that help all the citizens of our county. As we work through the Covid and fire emergencies I am committed to helping our small businesses in their recovery and to help people rebuild their homes with an expedited process and some reduction in fees to make things as fast and as easy as we can . My phone number and email is always publicly available if anyone needs me to help out or at least explain the " what or why " of an issue.
Finally, I know that working together with our cities and all of our other regional partners, as well as the Community Planning groups, is the only way we can continue to keep Clackamas County the enjoyable place to live- that we all call home. Regardless of the outcome on Tuesday I remain committed to service to our community. I look forward to serving you for another 4 years.
Remember, Communities are built by those who give to them, not by those who take from them.
Respectfully,
Ken Humberston
Clackamas County Commissioner

Homelessness is a major issue of our time and we must continue to work to address it. I'm proud of the work we did to establish and fund a Youth Action Board as one of several efforts to address homelessness in Clackamas County:
