Another CLEAN solar installation from our crew. All conduit was hidden and painted.
With the recent hail storm, chances are you have roofing companies knocking at your door offering “free roof inspections.” Many of these (often very aggressive) companies flood the area chasing hail damage and it can be overwhelming when several people a day are knocking on your door asking to get on your roof.
While we would love to earn your business, this post isn’t about that.
In fact we will admit that there are some great roofing companies right here in town. Competitors, yes. But it’s a fact. They are as much your neighbors as we are.
And they are often a MUCH safer option than the out of town companies aggressively trying to earn your business...before they leave.
𝗪𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁….
The truth is what we care more about than a local competitor getting a roof, is KEEPING YOU SAFE from working with a roofing company you may regret working with.
Many of the companies that flood the area hire sharp looking sales teams with well branded uniforms and vehicles to knock doors, conduct inspections and rush you into filing a claim.
Some are national companies. Many are out of the St. Louis and Kansas City areas. And while they may be able to get the job done, the trouble people often have is when something goes wrong either during the installation or later on, like a leak.
Not to mention the overall quality of the installation.
The day before writing this I heard someone in Nixa tell me how their neighbor used an out of town company who destroyed the landscaping while replacing the roof.
They tossed old shingles onto shrubbery and plants and riddled the lawn with debris. These companies come in, do as much work as they can going from house to house and leave. They are not as concerned with keeping up a local image. Because they don’t plan on staying and they are not your neighbor.
As harsh as that sounds, it is true more often than not.
With that said, you can imagine how difficult it is to get a company in Kansas to quickly warranty a roof with a leak that is 200 miles away. Leaks occasionally happen. Even to the best roofers. The question is how fast can they get you taken care of before real damage occurs.
Would you rather fight that battle or call someone local who you know is going to be there the same day?
Quality also comes into question. Insurance companies are going to pay what they are going to pay. With the additional travel expenses and out of town pay to sales reps, these companies need to make up that margin somehow. Do they just make less per job? Or do they maybe skimp on materials to make up for it? There really is no way to tell in every case. But it is another thing to consider when choosing who to work with.
Just last week we repaired a roof on a million dollar plus home that had shingles falling off simply because not enough nails were used. Easy fix. But the original company chose to save money.
And “local” does not always mean “local”.
One thing to look out for is some companies with a local number and even a local office are not even “local”. These companies keep that local number and cheap office to appear local when the hail comes through. When in reality they are an out-of-town company that rushes in when they can to get their share of the action.
So how do you protect yourself?
Look for a well established company with lots of positive reviews that are recent from people in the area. This tells you they have been in the area doing good work and did not just show up after the storm.
Ask your neighbors or HOA. If your neighborhood has a page that can be a great resource! Ask your insurance agent. They are limited in what they can say, but often they can guide you in a good direction. They are also good at telling you who to stay away from.
Speak with people who have worked with the company you are considering. And not just the person who got a new roof last week. If you can, find someone who got a roof 6 months ago or even 2 years ago. Find out how the roof has held up. Have there been any leaks? If so, were they on that roof quickly to take care of it? Ask if landscaping was protected. Did they clean up well or was the yard still riddled with nails? Were they able to make the claims process easy by guiding you through and taking over where they could.
You get the idea. All of these elements come together not only to make sure you get a quality roof for your home, but that the process is as easy and stress free as possible.
Above all do not get pressured! You have a choice. It is your home.
These companies are VERY aggressive. They will often put a sign in your yard without asking and corner you into using them. If you are not happy with who you have chosen or feel like you were pressured. Call someone else. Even if they have been on your roof. It is your home and your choice on who to use. If you signed a contract, by Missouri law you have 3 business days to let them know you want out.
Please understand that we are not trying to pick on or beat up anyone here. These companies have a right to earn a living. But in the end. You are much safer going with someone local.
If that is us, great. Feel free to message us, call or request an inspection here. https://titusroofingandsolar.com/roof-inspection-request/
If it is one of our competitors, hey that is ok too. Just remember, you have a choice. And there are plenty of local roofers in our community who you can trust.

This family in Willard got their new roof from Titus. What awesome people to work with!
A customer just sent us this text with a picture (red circles) of someone in his neighborhood who used a different company to go solar.
Thanking us for doing things the "right" way.
Our installation is on the right.
When we promise to give you more for your money and a better installation, this is just one example of what we are talking about.
Don't be fooled by big companies with fancy sales teams. Cutting corners like this is faster and easier. But it only serves the company installing your system. Not you the homeowner who has to live with this system on your hourse for the next 25-30 years.
Yep. It's true. Message us for details. ;)
Another Enphase solar system with battery complete!
For this system we utilized “load shedding” to prioritize the backup loads for the home automatically. This maximizes how long your home can run off of the battery alone, ensuring your critical items always have power.
If you have questions about going solar give us a call or messages here.
Another install south of Nixa. This family wanted to lock in energy prices for the next 25 years. Done!
Todays rain is a good thing! Dust and pollen can effect solar production. Solar panels need baths too! Fortunately, a properly designed system takes this into account. So you should always have enough energy with a system that is designed and installed by Titus Roofing And Solar. Have questions? Feel free to send us a message.
More solar for another family in Springfield!
It's not too late! We can still get you installed this year in time for you to receive your 30% tax credit. Message us now for more details.
Dont buy it…
Yesterday we spoke with a customer who was excited to go solar. After reviewing 12 months of utility usage and roof layout we called her back with what she was expecting to be a bid.
But thats not what she got.
Instead we told her that while going solar in many cases makes complete sense, for her it didnt. Atleast not right now (given her situation).
She was shocked.
While other companies try to get creative with ways to justify selling a system in a case like this, we told her we wouldn’t do it.
It wasn’t in her best interest and we were not comfortable selling her a system.
She thanked us for our honestly and we agreed to follow up in the future to reevaluate.
Going solar can be awesome. In many cases it makes complete sense. But every now and then, it doesn’t.
If you have questions about going solar, especially when determining it it’s the right thing for you and your family.
We are here to help.

Something old, something new. Just completed a solar installation on 140 year old rental property in North Springfield!
