Ah, Summertime....Here’s a little tune from Gershwin to warm up this snowy day!

We recorded this number last June—and WOW was it hot that day!

What are you looking forward to this summer??

Happy Thanksgiving! Today, I’m reminded how thankful I am for these lovely musicians—its been a joy to perform with them.

We hope you enjoy this rendition of Led Zeppelin’s “Thank You,” arranged by Stephanie Myers, and performed by Katherine Brueggeman, John Ingram, and Stephanie Myers

And so today, my world it smiles
Your hand in mine, we walk the miles
Thanks to you it will be done
For you to me are the only one
Happiness, no more be sad
Happiness, I'm glad

If the sun refused to shine
I would still be loving you
Mountains crumble to the sea
There will still be you and me

We have been BEYOND thrilled to work with Lynda Remus Photographer for our last two photo shoots. Her artistry is spectacular—and we had so much fun hanging out together with her for an afternoon!

Lynda keeps such a calm, soothing demeanor, gives great posing feedback, and the way she uses light *muah!*—magnifico!

Happiest of anniversaries to HHM’s !

The music from her wedding was a major inspiration to us forming our own wedding music business. Hers is still my favorite wedding that I’ve played! -Marcie

Marcie: Sometimes it’s lovely to be simply a guest at a wedding.

Yesterday we celebrated with my family the marriage of my dear friend and sister-in-law, Audrey.

This year has been so hard, but seeing their love endure and create something beautiful in the midst of all the chaos—I can’t wait to play my next wedding and help another beautiful couple set the mood for their day!

Stephanie and I (Marcie), have been SO excited to be working with two new musicians in our High Horse Music collective!

Katherine Brueggemann (violin) first played with us last year, and we quickly fell in love with her playing and lovely personality.

John Ingram (piano) played his first gig under the High Horse banner just a few weeks ago. We’ve loved his ability to improvise and his sense of humor brings a lot of fun to our rehearsals.

We look forward to sharing our recent collaborations with you—stay tuned!

It’s coming!! We’re so excited to participate in the virtual concert with Merit Theatre Company & Orchestra!

We recently filmed some of Stephanie’s GORGEOUS arrangements for the concert, and I (Marcie) have been hard at work editing it together.

We’re so looking forward to sharing it with you all, and hope you’ll tune in to be uplifted by all the acts participating!

Though Jane Eyre would have opened this weekend but had to be postponed, we are excited to announce that we have something else up our sleeve for this summer!

Merit Theatre Company will present You'll Never Walk Alone, a free virtual performance about hope and community, featuring Broadway actress Mckynleigh Alden Abraham from the national tours of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical and Once On This Island; High Horse Music; and many others. In the midst of trying times, we look forward to sharing this event as a way of encouraging our community.

Happy (Quarantined) Easter! 🐣 🐰 ✝️ 🐑 🌷
Fully feeling the weight of isolation this Easter season, we wanted to uplift your spirit, encourage your heart and edify your soul with something we just basically put together today. Circumstances change, but God never does!
“Forever” by Kari Jobe
Arranged by Stephanie Myers
The moon and stars they wept
The morning sun was dead
The Savior of the world was fallen
His body on the cross
His blood poured out for us
The weight of every curse upon him

One final breath He gave
As Heaven looked away
The Son of God was laid in darkness
A battle in the grave
The war on death was waged
The power of hell forever broken

The ground began to shake
The stone was rolled away
His perfect love could not be overcome
Now death where is your sting
Our resurrected King has rendered you defeated

Forever, He is glorified
Forever, He is lifted high
Forever, He is risen
He is alive
He is alive

We sing Hallelujah
We sing Hallelujah
We sing Hallelujah
The Lamb has overcome

AIN’T NO SUNSHINE 🌦😞 I was so very sad to hear about the recent passing of Bill Withers. I clearly recall the very first time I heard Ain’t No Sunshine - it was while I was watching the movie Notting Hill! Needless to say, I was HOOKED.

This season of social distancing is allowing creativity to guide many of us down roads previously untraveled. So without further adieu, here’s a humble Bill Withers tribute to a most soulful departed artist. (Btw, precision is HARD!)

When all this is over, who are YOU most looking forward to laughing with??

Photos from High Horse Music's post 23/03/2020

Marcie: These are some dark days for a lot of us—job layoffs, worries about health, the economy, and all the men and women in the front lines of health care—but then, sometimes, we see these little rays of sunshine.

Today, my little ray of sunshine was my boy Madoc telling me I was beautiful, and giving me a flower for my hair, 🌸 and a ring he made for my finger. Life is still good.

COVID-19. 😷 How are YOU spending your time? More to the point, have you noticed how much of the ARTS you’ve been consuming??!

From your favorite Pandora station to the Netflix series you're binge watching to that work of fiction you're devouring - even as we tighten our belts and cross our fingers that toilet paper 🧻 will be back on the shelves soon, we can't help but be reminded of the VALUE the arts adds to our lives. While the world is on lock down, there is nothing like BEAUTY to stir up hope, lift our spirits and connect us all.

We are looking forward to bringing you more content, and sharing about our in the coming weeks and months! We are also CHOMPING AT THE BIT 🐎 to start producing some video and audio content as well (YouTube, here we come!)

We aren't meant to be slaves to fear - let's focus on the BEAUTIFUL and share something life-giving! Is there a song, a story, or work of art that brings joy to you and lifts your spirits?

(Special thanks to Lynda Remus Photographer !!)

At High Horse Music we like things just a little fancy. 🤩

MANY thanks to for his excellent design (you should be, like, an artist or something)

Watch out for us hitting the pavement and handing these beauties out to every venue, bride, and grandma we come across. 😉

If you know a bride who would love have their unique personality and taste infused into the soundtrack of their day, share us with them!

We would love to show how we can make their day uniquely memorable.

Hit that like button and share!

“You met Ryan...online?” I’ll be honest here - several years back, I used to feel a tinge of embarrassment whenever I was asked how Ryan and I met.

These days I think the stigma has lessened considerably as SO MANY people are meeting their significant others online, but back when I was in the thick of it all, having to admit to online dating was somehow just a tad...desperate. Or, like admitting defeat! Like somehow, publishing a dating profile was a personal advertisement of frustration and failure that screamed, “HEY WORLD! I am SUPER flawed, uncool, and socially awkward to the degree that I need a PAID subscription to find a decent, sane guy to date and potentially marry!”

I am a silly rabbit 🤪

Of course, I don’t feel that way at all anymore! Granted, online dating still has enough awkwardness built into the whole system as the steps to meeting someone are out of order (and truly, over time this fact becomes a wearying process)...but when all is said and done, I have this to say: I am OVER THE MOON thrilled/happy/grateful that my heart found its home with Ryan Myers! Our paths would NEVER have crossed had we not met online. And had I not been brave and persistent and patient, I might never have found this weird and wonderful man who so beautifully compliments my personality, aligns with my faith, and supports my values.

Have YOU online dated before?! If so, did you ever feel any shame about it, or was it just me?! :😅

Steph here! Growing up, I always remember having had a piano in the house. I think it was important to my parents that we kids had exposure to music and many opportunities to appreciate it. Who knows how many HOURS I spent on that thing hammering out melodies I’d heard on Sesame Street and random kids movies!

Fast forward a couple decades...When I got married a few years ago and moved into our little historic farmhouse remodel, I felt that our house NEEDED music at its heart - so I really prayed that by some insane miracle we’d be able to have a piano in that space some way, somehow.

Crazily enough, some friends in town who run a local event venue had an old baby grand piano that they no longer had room for and asked if we’d “like to take it off their hands”. ?!?!?!!

Um...HECK YES!!!!!!!

So, this old beauty has found a home beneath the spiral stair - smack-dab in the center of our house. The photo was taken immediately after it was hoisted into place. This is where I practice, play, arrange, enjoy, daydream, decompress.

If you have ANY TIPS on making a space more “creative-friendly”, this girl wants to know! Is there a place you go to where it’s easy to be creative? What does that look like for you?

Hi there, I’m Marcie! I’d love to get to know you all, but in the meantime, I’ll tell you a little about myself-

Growing up, I had two main passions: flute/music, and horses. I spent times working at barns doing anything from lunging, grooming, and mucking stalls. Call me weird, but I kind of love the smell of horse 💩. (It’s, like, peaceful and nature and whatnot, don’t come for me 😆)

I decided to pursue music for college, and got my music degree in 2009–got married to my high school sweetheart Travis in 2008, and had my lovely little miracle boy Madoc in 2015.

Over the years, I’ve had to balance my life continuously over my various interests and responsibilities—sometimes putting things that I love on hold, to just....take care of life! Sometimes it’s my horses/animals that take a backseat, sometimes it’s the music, for while there ALL of it went by the wayside while I figured out the whole mom thing!

I’ve been SO beyond excited to be getting back into performing music, especially with SUCH a talented group of musicians that we’ve been assembling. I adore collaborating with people in close groups.

And who knows, maybe at some point the horses will come back too, cause you know, , amiright? 😉🎶🐎🎶

Tell me about yourself, what are some of your interests? Have you ever had to put something you loved on hold?

We looooove getting to know our brides! It’s such a privilege to help them make the soundtrack of their day everything they wanted and more—

Stephanie wrote Melanie a custom arrangement for Tale as Old as Time as a processional, but Derek really wanted Bittersweet Symphony for the recessional so she wrote that up too!

Melanie and Derek were such a fun couple—we loved infusing their ceremony with their personal tastes.

We’re on the hunt for new music to arrange: If you could have (or past-tense “could have had”) any song you wanted for a processional or recessional, what would YOU pick?

Photos from High Horse Music's post 20/02/2020

Stephanie: As GLORIOUS as my wedding day was, it definitely had its flaws.

First off, the weather was bone-chilling cold for October which made our outdoor cocktail hour a bit of a freeze-fest for our guests; the hotel room where the bridal party got ready looked like a full on visual panic attack; and then there were those two hours where we could not locate my Dad...Not to mention that moment where everyone was sending us off with sparklers and everything and we did NOT have our getaway car lined up and we seriously considered hiding in the parking lot (details, details).

Despite all that, I can honestly say with total Beyonce-confidence that my wedding had THE best, THE MOST gorgeous and perfectly ethereal wedding music I have EVER heard, period.

My opinion hasn't changed. I mean, I'm the sort of girl who used to fantasize over her dream wedding music in ways that most girls obsessed over finding the perfect venue/the flowers/the dress. Truth be told, I had my wedding day soundtrack largely organized for like, a good 15 years before I actually walked down the aisle. A touch OCD? Maybe.

But having played music for most of my life at every kind of event and venue under the sun, I've witnessed firsthand the undeniably transformative power that music has to enhance, elevate and memorialize a moment in time and touch people's hearts.

Beauty makes a sound...perhaps that’s why I’m so in love with it.

Tell me! What wedding details are the most important to YOU and why??
