East Hartford, CT โ Democrat Connor Martin, Mayor Mike Walshโs Chief of Staff, announced his candidacy for Mayor of the Town of East Hartford.
The announcement came following Mayor Walshโs decision not to seek re-election for a second term: โIt is with great pleasure and pride that I announce my candidacy for the position of Mayor for the Town of East Hartford,โ said Connor Martin. โOver the past two years, I have worked alongside Mayor Mike Walsh as his Chief of Staff, sharing a joint passion and vision for the future of our community. I believe that I have the skills, experience, and dedication to continue Mayor Mikeโs legacy and bring our many projects currently in development to completion.โ
During his tenure as Mayor Walshโs Chief of Staff, Connor Martin has played an integral role in advancing economic development and infrastructure, town programming and initiatives, while also overseeing the day-to-day municipal government operations. He is uniquely prepared to serve. As Chief of Staff, he has focused on making East Hartford a more welcoming and inclusive place for all residents, businesses, and visitors through the expansion of accessibility services and implementation of transparent communication initiatives.
During his time in the Mayorโs Office, Connor Martin has also represented the Mayor at Town functions and fostered strong relationships with local leaders, business owners, and East Hartford residents.
โIโve known Connor Martin for several years. I have always been impressed with his humility, professionalism and dedication to the Town of East Hartford. When you talk to him he listens, you get the feeling he understands and wants to helpโ, said former East Hartford Mayor Tim Larson.
In addition to his day-to-day responsibilities as East Hartfordโs Chief of Staff, Connor Martin serves as an active member of East Hartfordโs Democratic Town Committee, proudly representing their Democratic values and policies. Prior to serving as East Hartfordโs Chief of Staff, Connor Martin served as East Hartford Town Councilor, Vice Chair and District 5 Treasurer of the Democratic Town Committee. He is a founding member of the East Hartford Black Caucus, and served on the boards of Community Health Resource, East Hartford Rotary and Zoning Board of Appeals. Connor Martin has a Masterโs degree in Organizational Leadership from Goodwin University.
โThis experience over the years has given me an unparalleled understanding and appreciation for the town and our community,โ said Mr. Martin. โI am eager to take on the opportunity of leading the town of East Hartford as its next Mayor to ensure its continued growth.โ
