Oh Mr. Apollo!!! How I love you so much and how you have also challenged me with your strength, stubbornness and giant puppy energy! Grateful I get the opportunity to continue working with you because you have really come so far since starting and are so close to achieving the other goals I and your family have for you! A face you can’t help but fall in love with 😍
Look at this handsome fella feeling all confident enjoying the view from place on this beautiful day! 🍁🌤️
A common complaint is “ my puppy is chewing and biting everything!!”
Yep I bet! He’s 4-24 months that’s normal!! Can’t take the puppy out of the puppy but you can definitely find ways to encourage them to bite on appropriate items!
Unfortunately I cant train a puppy to not be a puppy! 😂 this too shall pass!
Let me know if you need some fun tips and tricks to support the “ snappy alligator “ phase your puppy is in!
This week is all about safe socialization.
When your dog is strong, young, inexperienced in the world and new to socializing outside the home, the set up of those first interactions could make or break your dogs confidence!
It is so important that all the dogs are safe and set up for a successful first experience and interaction with each other! Many times the emotions of the humans combined with uncontrolled environments create negative first socializing experiences that end up causing dogs to become anxious, insecure, and even reactive to other dogs or humans.
Proper socialization can save you and your dog from so many of the most common negative dog behaviors!
Brooks and Birdie took their training to the next level this morning!
Out at the park with lots of little humans running and playing, they practiced their sit, down and place as well as release and recall!
These two goldens are just golden ✨☀️
There is no better feeling!
My clients make me so proud! 😊✨🐾
Came across this little pie chart and it is spot on!
Some ways I tell my clients to start socializing their dog or puppy is by taking them out with you to take the big garbage cans to the curb, as that thunderstorm starts rolling out but you can still hear it take them for a walk, and sit on your porch or in your yard with them and just watch the world go by!
By being creative and doing these simple tasks and experiences with your dog you are setting them up to be a more balanced, calm dog. 🐾✨

It’s a beautiful day for some Dog training

I want to start recognizing and making some shout outs of my favorite animal products that I like to use for my own pets!!
Today I want to make a shout out to Raven Micro Farm!
This farm is family owned and produces soy free and non gmo meat and eggs and other products mostly for human consumption but they also sell a raw chicken dog food!
This raw chicken dog food is a great addition to my dogs diet! I also love to give him the duck eggs as a treat!
I personally spend time on this farm and have had the pleasure of witnessing the amazing care of these animals. Good food for ourselves and our pets is best when produced with love 💕 please check out their page!
The results you get to witness as a dog trainer make for some of the best feelings in the world! Well at least in the top ten for a dog and human loving person 😂
Watching people heal their relationships with themselves and their dog, find balance, and bond to a whole other level is just amazing!
When you bring them out to public places that seemed so far off for them and see how amazing they handle the energy and distractions, that’s success! I always knew they could do it but watching them realize that is such a gift!
Honey is ready to take on this world along side her owners as a calm, cool, collected member of society! ✨🐾
Working with these two pittie babies this week!
When they arrived they were pulling on the lead, going in all different directions with no focus or care where I was!
We are only two days In to practicing and the second my feet stop this ⬇️ is what they do!!!
They are also practicing heal, and threshold manners before leaving and entering the home!
Wrapping up a bunch of 6 week sessions and I can’t help but feel alittle sad 😔

Healing humans and dogs! ✨💕🐾
The best part of my job is watching owners and dogs heal themselves individually and together through training!
Believe it or not but often times what your current dog may be experiencing is directly related to the owners past experiences with dogs if they have an insecure attachment to each other.
Part of what I do is help point out those feelings and show you how they are causing a reaction in your dog and walk you through how to release those scary “what if” thoughts and be in the moment with your dog!
When we can be aware of our fears and exist in the moment with our dogs, we can see all that the dog is truly capable of!
Let go of the past! Forget about the future! And just enjoy how amazing your dog is doing right in this moment! ✨🐾
Remember to…
Paws… Breathe…Connect… LET’S TRAIN✨🐾
A common complaint from clients about their dogs is that they can be unpredictable and inconsistent in public spaces.
Many times these behaviors are stemming from something deeper. Just like humans, dogs are highly sensitive beings and we can’t always control the energy being put out in the environment by other humans and dogs.
If our dogs are not secure in themselves, and in their owners leadership they can become anxious and reactive out in public spaces.
Other dogs, bikes, children, adults, lawnmowers, garbage cans, flags, squirrels…. So many things exist that can cause an insecure dog to react negatively. It is important for us first to tackle the underlying issues, anxiety, trauma, and emotional or developmental reasons for the reactions in low distraction, familiar places, such as the home or personal yard. Then when the dog is succeeding in those spaces it’s time to work in public spaces with potential triggers that are out of the handlers control.
With weeks of building the dog and owners confidence in what THEY are capable of we can go into unpredictable situations filled with high distractions and big triggers and have the security and tools to cope through those without reacting negatively!
As I have been wrapping up several clients 6 week private sessions we have reached this amazing phase in the training process! These clients have worked so hard and are seeing great results because of their dedication! It is the most rewarding moment as a dog trainer! ✨🐾
The first questions I ask my clients are the breed and age of their dog. Why?! Because it is crucial to understanding why my clients may be facing certain behaviors and challenges.
I ask about breed because every breed of dog is different and develops at different rates. ✨THIS IS SO IMPORTANT TO KNOW WHEN YOU ARE DECIDING ON A DOG FOR YOUR FAMILY!!! ✨
Some breeds, such as your giant breeds, brains develop at a much slower rate than your average or small breed dogs. This can mean you better plan on that puppy stage lasting closer to 3 years instead of 1 year to 18 months! 😬🐾
If you understand the breed you are bringing home or in my case working with, you have the gift of awareness to help work on any behaviors that may start to present themselves!
Breed is also so important to understand when training a dog or bringing a dog into your home because every breed was originally bred for a different purpose. Some are guard dogs, some are herding dogs, some are foot warmers 🤣 But seriously if you know what your specific breed was originally bred for you’ll be able to better understand why your dog may be displaying certain behaviors such as barking incessantly at strangers outside.
Age is important because just like the human brain the dog brain is going through different stages of development. ✨Again this is different for each breed. ✨Knowing the age of the pup can help to identify what your dog is capable of based on where they are at developmentally.
I have yet to have a case where these two factors did not matter!
Welcome to Paws for Connection dog training!
