Underbelly Ramen
God Bless Underbelly
Our doors may be shut for Thanksgiving Day, but The LaFayette's arms will be wide open.
It’s summertime and the living is very easy, for us. Izakaya Underbelly will be locking up along with the rest of the UCSD collegiates on Friday for summer break—but not before we close early on Thursday to host a private party at 5:30. Get your eat-drink-party-stay on while you can.
The unofficial start of summer deserves an official celebration. So much so that our UCSD location will be closed on Memorial Day, but will be back on Tuesday to entice you with all of our school’s out (almost) summer offerings...
Underbelly North Park is looking for a new line cook to be part of our heart of house team. We want a heart that craves bao as much as it does teamwork, timeliness, and effortless ex*****on. Compensation is $18 an hour plus tips and a commitment to working on the weekends is a must. Send your resume to [email protected] to make it a reality.
Izakaya Underbelly will be closed for a private event tonight from 4pm-9pm. But while you’re seething with ramen-adjacent jealousy, start planning your own party. Then, email [email protected] to make it a reality.
Books down, but also chopsticks down. It’s sad but the upshot is that it’s Spring Break, so we’ll be closing up the UCSD shop starting 3/27 and back open for regular business hours on 4/3. Don’t worry, we won’t tell your parents you’re going to Cabo. Your secret’s safe with us.
Tonight we’ll be closed for a private event at our UCSD location from 4pm-9pm, but back on Monday for all your buzzing, neon Izakaya dreams.
Gorge on the delights of discount at our new Happy Hour, available Monday-Friday from 2pm-5pm. As the hours go by, the deals only get stronger. We’re doubling down (literally) and offering “Power Hour” from 4pm-5pm, where all Happy Hour food items are BOGO (buy one, get one). Don your best power suit (or not) and close the deal at your favorite eat-drink-study-stay place. Non-students welcome.
Our North Park and Little Italy locations will remain open through the holiday season, including Christmas Eve (closing a touch early at 9pm), but closed for Christmas Day. Happy slurping.
Did you know that Izakaya actually means “best place to have a holiday party” in Japanese? Trust us, not Google Translate. As the holidays approach, we’re here to help plan any celebratory soirée for up to 150 guests. Interested? Email [email protected] to make your holiday (and sake and teppenyaki) fantasies come true.
Registration for classes may have ended but Underbelly UCSD is about to be in session—and we’re hiring. Want to enroll? Join us in-person or send your resume to [email protected]
Today’s announcement is one of the favorites we’ve made in a long while. The passion one. The giddy one.
SDM and CH Projects have started a book club. Because we love the almighty profanity out of books, and no one ever died thinking, "I should've read less."
We’re partnering with some of San Diego’s great independent bookstores, hoping our literary scheme will drive you into their lovely arms. Indie bookstores are the marrow in a city’s bones. Sentence churches. Long thoughts from thinkers. Ray Bradbury’s in there. Toni Morrison, too. Vonnegut, Didion, some unfamous person who wrote like a hurricane for one book and then vanished, great voices the world hasn’t yet discovered.
In a modern age where we do what the bloop and bleep tells us, books are Airbnbs for your brain.
We are not above bribery to do our part in this book revolution. If you join our club, and show proof that you bought it from a participating local, indie bookstore—each month we’ll randomly select one member to get a $300 gift card to any of the locations (Craft & Commerce, Seneca, Born & Raised, Ironside, Neighborhood, etc.).
Keep your eyes on the next issue of San Diego Mag (September) for the first book. A book that altered us in weird and great ways.
In coming months, we’ll beautify your feed with bookstore glamour shots. But for now, here are the bookstores that we’ve partnered with:
📍The Book Catapult 📸
📍Verbatim Books .books 📸
📍Warwick’s 📸
📍La Playa Books
📍Diesel Books
📍Bay Books Coronado
Email [email protected] to join the club and get the full list of participating stores. And if you own a bookstore and would like to join us, reach out.
Looking forward to sending out more noodz in the new year 🍜
Last night to get your noodz fix before we out for the holidays • CLOSED 12/24 + 12/25 • swing by + for Christmas Day digs
We’ll be closed on Thanksgiving Day so our staff can have the opportunity to spend the holiday with family and friends. On Friday we’ll reopen for service as usual, with regular service hours throughout the weekend👌
