September bearding
Every year, when we use Apiguard, there is at least one absconds. Have you noticed similar behavior? This year we are using half a dose added each week, but this colony still swarmed. This had become more than a swarm though, because they had started building comb there.
Applying Apiguard.
This was a swarm capture from a few months ago. They seem set for the winter.

The supers are off. How has your honey harvest gone?
Time to harvest honey. 🍯
Inulas in the sun ☀️
The inulas are spectacular this time of the year. The tallest ones probably reach up to about 9ft high. During the winter they completely die back, which makes it easy to transplant the roots to better locations. These appear to be Inula racemosa. Do you grow inulas? The bees love them.
Field flowers. Is it mid summer or late summer?

The dry days of summer are here. Smokey orange skies, bush fires, and hot afternoons.
