First Day of Summer!!!!!!

Proud of our kids wrapping up 10th, 8th, 5th, and 2nd grade. Next year we’ll have two in high school and two in elementary school (quick respite from three schools 🤪). Summer is tough but magical. Lots of hiking and beach time in our future.

I draw a lot of inspiration for my work from other mediums. Art in dance, paint, stories, theater, and cinema all help me grow in photography. Making these images with .m.wilkins was a blast. Over iced coffee we hung out in her studio for a couple hours and captured her in a place so special to her and the work she makes. Today she launches new art!!! A small introduction to a special session. Walking around Central Park with my daughter and Brenna on our first New York morning. Holding those couple hours dear. Her sister first introduced me to the city and I’ve loved NYC ever since.

I can’t wait to share more from this morning with , who is a phenomenal dancer and also forever captured as a child in my wedding photos 🩷.

Eight years ago and I arrived late to a workshop hosted by with . We were ridiculously nervous to meet the man behind Film Is Not Dead and I was enormously pregnant with the ten pound babe.

The workshop was about using HP5, a black and white film (not the one pictured here 😅). I learned a ton about film that day, but what I really took away from that time was an awe of how much of an open book Jon was, even the first time meeting him. Jon and *really* care about film education and opening the world of analog up to everyone.

Since that meeting, I’ve had the honor of learning from Jon and the folks at in more ways than I can count.

This image of my daughter was born from that education. Jon always encourages growing as an artist and developing your craft through personal work. Dance photography is one of those endeavors for me, and it began with this girl who is not so little anymore.

In alignment with their desire to grow the film community, is expanding and has created a space for the community that is not only a darkroom and studio, but a place for people to learn and grow in their knowledge and ex*****on of shooting film. I’m so so excited for the work they are doing in their community.

One week into May friends! How are we?

Last night in our high school girls small group I was reminded that students feel the impact of May just as much (or more) as parents. Our May unexpectedly mellowed significantly with the closing of our club soccer fields while the field recovers, but the oldest girl makes up for it with all three sports overlapping at the moment 😂🙃.

I will say this… as crazy as May is, I love it. I love the culmination of so much hard work and a season of growth being showcased in final games and performances. Also? Minor B Little League is the cutest and I love it forever.

I loved photographing this family with adult daughters. Every season is rich and beautiful, and while I really want to press pause on the speed of high school whirring by, this session was a good reminder that love grows.
