This is terrible! The men and women of the Brattleboro Fire Department having their personal vehicles broken into and having fuel stolen while they’re on shift serving the community is so disrespectful.

Over the last few months Brattleboro Firefighters have experienced their personal vehicles getting broken into and personal items getting stolen. Most recently, on Tuesday, August 6th members had gas siphoned from their personal vehicles while working their 24 hour shift. Brattleboro Firefighters are calling on the Town of Brattleboro to actively work on ensuring a safe community space, workplace and parking spaces for this community and Brattleboro Firefighters while they are serving the community.

Please consider contacting your local officials to promote safer workspaces for our firefighters and the downtown area.

“Although my husband and I had thought about having an alarm system installed for years we were overwhelmed by the process; what company to choose, what type of hardware, where would components be installed, etc. Last year we were referred to Home Security Service, a local, family owned company, by a friend who had an HSS alarm system installed in her home. We contacted HSS and arranged a consultation. HSS guided us through the process with thorough explanations of the available components and how they would work to protect our home. We decided to go forward with the recommended system and shortly thereafter it was installed. The consultation, installation, as well as training on how to use the system, were all done by the owners of HSS. Any questions we have had since it was installed have been answered quickly. Now, after having used the alarm system for almost a year, we wonder why we waited so long. We give HSS high marks!”

So, today I’m down in a basement testing the backup battery in an alarm panel and kept having that feeling like someone’s behind me. With all the noise of their HVAC and pumps running, I couldn’t hear if anyone had come down but every glance over the shoulder verified nobody else was down there. I didn’t think much of it, finished my task and headed back upstairs. As I was leaving I jokingly mentioned it to the employee at the front desk who then shared several weird encounters she’s had there. One of them was her hearing the words, “help me” while she was in the basement… 😳

Over the years we’ve been in lots and lots of homes and businesses and have seen and/or heard some unexplained things. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Busy start to the new year! Over the last 19 days we’ve installed 6 new alarm systems, 3 new camera systems - one of them having 20 cameras 🫨 - and many other stops along the way.

Happy New Year everyone! 2024 begins the 55th year of Home Security Service! We look forward to continuing our mission to making the local communities more secure - one property at a time!
We’re here to help with any of your security needs, alarms or cameras. We also have several home automation features that integrate with our systems. In addition to security and automation, we offer and install Eero WiFi networks and SONOS speakers and sets.

Our customer in Wilmington, VT will be ringing in the new year while enjoying high quality sound throughout his beautiful home. Today we installed a full SONOS surround sound setup for his TV room and added several SONOS speakers throughout his home. He can now easily enjoy his favorite music from all of his music streaming services with the SONOS app and watch TV & movies with theater quality sound.

All this customer wanted for Christmas was to have a new system installed in his freshly renovated home. We were happy to be able to get that done for him today!

We’re with good company too!

During the month of November, what started as 5 of our firefighter members, participated in their own “No-Shave-November” or “Movember” agreement. Pictured below are the 4 that went all month. The 5th person, who we won’t Facebook shame, quit early on when he shaved all but the mustache and received some rather negative feedback from his wife…

We must share that this picture (maybe due to the lighting?) doesn’t capture the mustaches very well. But in person they were very apparent. One member wasn’t even immediately recognized when seen on a call by another. 🤣

All but one of the four below shaved immediately following this photo. The last is waiting to make a grand appearance with it to visit some family.
