Sound of Freedom, a gritty look at human trafficking, is on at your local cinema right now. A task force member had the following to say about it:

"I saw this movie last night. It breaks your heart while it gives you hope - ONE PERSON CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. Each of us can tell someone else - each of us can watch for signs of people being trafficked. It has happened in Huntsville Alabama and Atlanta Georgia and all over our country and the rest of the world. See the movie."

What a tremendous multi-group effort to put together hope bags for recovered human trafficking victims on Tuesday! Thanks to Soroptimist International of Huntsville, as well as Junior League of Huntsville, TIP of Alabama, Camp8 Outfitters, and the Criminal Justice, Homeland and Corporate Security, and Child Advocacy (CAST) students of Athens State University!

When human trafficking victims are recovered, frequently they have no personal possessions at all, other than the (often quite inadequate) clothes they are wearing. A hope bag is for a law enforcement officer, or an advocacy group member, or a shelter worker, or a medical provider, or anyone else who is in position to help to give to the victim. It contains personal hygiene items, more substantial clothing, a blanket--the things we take for granted but things a trafficking victim may have been without for months or even years. It is a bit of restored dignity.

It is hope.

Thanks to everyone who contributed time and money to this effort. We appreciate you!
