I guess this recently made the rounds again... for anyone who doesn’t know yet, my younger brother, JBall Knives, is an awesome bladesmith and was on Forged In Fire at the beginning of their last season... here’s the episode... watch him (and my adorable nieces) as he makes a sword... Crazy talented!!
"Everything good, everything magical happens between the months of June and August."
— Jenny Han
I can’t believe it’s already August... if I could choose summer spending time in salty water, hunting for ghost crabbies at midnight and lounging in the sun with my littles year round, I would so do it.
Well... so much for raiding the kids candy from last nights adventures in frozen trick or treating... can’t guess which of the three this belongs to... couldn’t have been the same child who dressed as Chucky.. 🤔🤪😂
We might need a solid week just to defrost after tonight’s super chilly trick or treating...
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!! 🎃
Last night was my first time to celebrate Diwali... beautiful night spent with both new and old friends...
Plus we beat the Yankees at home and are officially World Series bound!! Go ‘Stros! Can’t wait to be cheering them on in Minute Maid for game 1...
Game 1... second game I’ve been to in the last week... now if only I can find my favorite green mascot, Orbit ... Let’s go ‘Stros!
Don’t forget to watch my little brother Jarred, JBall Knives, tonight on Forged In Fire on the HISTORY channel...
I’m dying to see how it turned out since he actually followed the rules and hasn’t told me yet! Lol!
A few days ago, someone looked at me and joked, “you just wanted to see if blondes actually DO have more fun... didn’t you?!”
To which I responded, “after the last couple of years, blonde or not, I’m hellbent on having fun... platinum was just the obvious starting place...” *insert eye roll*
It’s been over a year since I posted much of anything. I needed a break — A long one. It became a necessity after experiencing several major life changing events...
💦Summer 2017 rolled in with business flooding hurricane, Harvey
🔥Summer 2018 sparked a Fire at our home resulting in a total loss.
💔Summer 2019, an end to another chapter a la divorce (on going)...
Of course, even more life happenings transpired during that period. Some good... but a lot of bad... at the end of the day, I’m still the same unfiltered, brutally honest, detail obsessed, story preserving, 📸 obsessed, determined human...
Had a lovely time celebrating the always fabulous Michael Pearce ... who wouldn’t say yes to pie and black tie?! 🥳
Cool Kids Giving back is the new black
To say that this post has been a loooooong time coming is putting it lightly...
Honestly, any post from me is a rare event lately. After loosing our home + everything in it via a lighting induced fire last summer just months after REEF was flooded by hurricane harvey pouring down from the roof, I decided to put myself in a social media time-out. As It turns out experiencing a fire rip thru your home less than a year after a hurricane floods your restaurant will leave a you a little twitchy with PTSD.
There were days where I was sure we would never make it out alive after experiencing so much fun at once... and coming to the realization that Mother Nature *might* be trying to take me out, one storm at a time, was a tad concerning. The stress was real people...
That said, the last few months haven’t been all bad... I mean, our youngest taught himself how to navigate amazon in order to purchase every single last Tonka truck available via 2 Bryan‘s iPad every chance he got... if only I could convince him to channel his enthusiasm for online shopping into restocking our weekly groceries.... that’s almost like a win, right?!
So as our son was busy honing his new retail skills, Bryan and I were focusing on fixing one disaster at a time... now we can FINALLY say that this Sunday, we are re-opening REEF.... or at least half of REEF anyway. Baby steps... 😉
So join us this Sunday as we celebrate the milestone with crawfish, crab bbq and cocktails! We promise no flooding or fire crazed lighting will be in attendance for the soft-opening.
Then, Lunch, dinner + regular bar service will commence starting Wednesday at Third Bar - Followed by REEF two weeks later...
And after all of this, I think I finally deserve that trip to Spain Bryan Caswell....
Bryan and I knew finding the right person to take on the operations at El Real following Justin Saunders could be a challenge...
But the stars finally aligned and we are thrilled to officially annouce that the very accomplished Jessica Timmons has joined our team as our new GM at El Real Tex-Mex Cafe.
Welcome to our team Jess!!
And, thank you Eric Sandler for taking the time to chat with us last week!
