WBFL
The Wanna-Be Football League: Wasting our Time Since 1986.
This is a no slapping league.
NEWPORT CHAIRLIFT WHISPERERS TAKE THE TROPHY
After an exciting season, the Wanna-Be Football League now has its champion. The Newport (WA) Chairlift Whisperers defeated the Arlington (WA) Applemaggots 131-101 in Bogus Bowl # # to claim their first league title since 2006 (then known as the Tacoma Kinks).
Two of the key players in this fight were real-life teammates, as the Chairlift Whisperers’ Devin Singletary squared off against the TQB Bills. While they were on the same team, they sure didn’t deliver the same result. Singletary did great for Newport Chairlift Whisperers, putting up 29 points. The rest of Coach Mike Wasem’s lineup followed Singletary’s lead, scoring 102 more points. Of that crew, the Bears Defense/ST led the way with 25 points. No other Defense/ST scored more points than that this week.
Unfortunately, Team Chairlift’s #2 WR Antonio Brown stormed off the field and will not be given a championship ring.
Coach Mitch Rorick’s Applemaggots were consistent across the board, with WR Cooper Kupp responsible for 21 of Arlington’s points. However, Marquise “Hollywood” Brown didn’t do his job, catching just three balls on eight targets and three fantasy points.
Team Chairlift countered with a combined 31 points from WR Deebo Samuel and TE Travis Kelce to wrap up the win … and walk off the field holding the Rod Anderson Memorial Trophy high.
PENNY AND HARRIS SINK RIVER RATS
The Parker (CO) Wolfpack got past South Everett (WA) River Rats with points to spare, winning 158 to 135 and claiming third place in the 2021 WBFL season.
With the win, the Wolfpack brought their record to 10-7. And with the loss, the River Rats close the season at 11-6.
Parker Coach Chris Reeves put RB Rashaad Penny into the lineup for the first time, and he came through. Penny and Najee Harris were the stand-outs for the Wolfpack; the dynamic duo together accounted for 72 points. Penny scored 38 points, which topped all running backs this week. He had 144 yards and 2 TDs, and that was just in the first half.
Meanwhile, Ronald Jones was the lone bad performer for the River Rats, recording 3 points. That made him the worst performer on South Everett River Rats for the first time this year.
Rats’ Coach Jim Pinkney did better on the sidelines than their team did on the field. They started Rhamondre Stevenson instead of Tyler Boyd, despite the experts’ prediction that Boyd should have played.
This decision gave South Everett River Rats a nice 15-point bonus. It also earned Coach Pinkney’ Coach of the Week’ honors, but it wasn’t enough to save South Everett from a fourth-place finish.
FIFTH AND SIXTH PLACE DETERMINED LAST WEEK
The Springfield (OR) Ill-Tempered Corgis entered the 2021 WBFL playoffs on a mission to defend their 2000 championship. However, a round 1 loss put the Corgis in the loser’s bracket against an always tough Rocky Mountain (ID) Mafia team.
In the end, it was WR Tee Higgins stand-out day that helped power the royal puppies to a resounding 171-121 claim to fifth place.
While Higgins was lighting up the scoreboard for the Corgis, the Mafia’s David Njoku stuck out as the team’s worst performer, notching zero points and a possible set of concrete slippers. Rocky Mountain wound up with their high point total courtesy of five overperformers, led by RB David Montgomery’s 23 points.
The 36th WBFL Bogus Bowl is happening NOW! The Arlington Applemaggots are starting TQB Bills, RB A. Jones, WR C. Kupp, WR M. Brown, WR T. McLaurin, TE D. Goedert, K J. Elliott, and DST Chiefs. The Newport Chairlift Whisperers are starting TQB Eagles, RB D. Singletary, RB J. Jacobs, WR D. Samuel, WR A. Brown, TE T. Kelce, K M. Badgley, and DST Bears. Tune in later to see who your champion is!
AROUND THE LEAGUE: WEEK 10
The Concrete Dominators took yet another hit to the loss column, while the South Everett River Rats showed why they are the class of the East Division. Meanwhile, the Samish Bay Oysters beat the Dallas Cougars within an inch of their lives as part of this week's exciting action.
OYSTERS LEAVE DALLAS IN SHAMBLES: In a week where there were five blowouts, this was the biggest. The Samish Bay (WA) Oysters left the Dallas (TX) Cougars wondering where it all went wrong, winning 120 to 39. That 81-point gap represents the biggest victory margin of the season.
The win brings Team Bivalve back to even at 5-5. Thanks to the loss, Dallas has now come out on the losing end of four of their last five games, moving their record to 4-6.
The Chiefs TQB has been coming through for the Oysters all year, and this week was no different, tallying 51 points. No other player scored more points than that this week. Their performance on Sunday night took them from the 6th best team quarterback to the 2nd best team quarterback in the league.
Dallas, meanwhile, was having a terrible time moving the ball down the field, with the whole team gaining only 100 yards. That's the worst result that any team this season has had in the total yards category.
Coach Alan Wooten appears to have been too busy to set their lineup this week. He left two players in the game who were guaranteed zeros, and also made the mistake of starting Daniel Carlson. That cost his team 8 points directly (plus whatever free agents might have brought), which would have helped make the final score slightly less embarrassing. This marks the 3rd straight week where they have cost their team points.
NIPPLEMEN DE-PERK IN SHOCKING UPSET: The 3-7 Vermillion (UT) Nipplemen came into this week on a three-game losing streak, but were heavy favorites over an out-manned and out-gunned Newport (WA) Chairlift Whisperers. Inconceivably, the Nipplemen left in ruins, losing 63 to 128.
The 63 points the Nipplemen scored were the fewest they scored this year, beating the mark they set just last week. On the other side of the coin, the Chairlift Whisperers' 128 points were the most anybody in the league scored this week.
Newport, now 9-1, was led by the trio of Deebo Samuel, Travis Kelce, and the Cowboys TQB, who combined for 71% of their team's points. Samuel alone scored 31 points, which were good for 2nd place among all wide receivers this week.
The Lions TQB have played on three different WBFL teams this year, and may need a new change of scenery after this week. Lions TQB and Jeremy McNichols combined to put up 5 points for the Nipplemen. Coach Brent Rowe found out why Lions TQB were available on the waiver wire this week. Coach Rowe's lineup wasn't any better than his players this week. He left Kyle Pitts and his 12.8 expected points on the bench, favoring McNichols (8.2 points expected).
This decision took a 9 point chunk out of the Nipplemen's final score, which ultimately didn't make a difference in the final outcome. It did make it back-to-back weeks now where Coach Rowe has cost his team points.
APPLEMAGGOTS KEEP WINNING, DESTROY FRIENDLY GHOSTS: With how their recent games have been going, it wouldn't be surprising if Coaches Jeremy and Megan Church were caught napping on the sideline. The previous three games were blowouts, and this week was nothing new. Their Casper (WY) Friendly Ghosts suffered a huge loss to the Arlington (WA) Applemaggots, going down 119 to 88. The loss drops the Friendly Ghosts' record to 3 - 7, while the win brings the Applemaggots to a league-leading 9-1.
Jake Elliott was expected to be the worst performing K this week, but apparently that was just fuel for the fire. Elliott joined up with Cooper Kupp and the Bills quarterbacks to rack up 74 points.
Meanwhile, Casper had a very balanced lineup, but it was balanced at too low of a level. Antonio Gibson paced the team by beating the average running back by 7.1 points, while Amari Cooper (3.5 points worse than the average wide receiver) was the worst on the team. Cooper's 9 point performance made him the worst performer on the Ghosts for the first time this year.
The strength of schedule diverges for these squads next week. Two 3-7 teams will do battle next week when Casper takes on the Concrete (WA) Dominators. The Ghosts might be feeling pretty confident about that game, as Concrete Dominators limps in on a three-game losing streak.
Meanwhile, in a battle royale of the league’s two best teams, Arlington will take on the South Everett (WA) River Rats. Unfortunately for the Applemaggots, the River Rats are coming into their matchup on a four-game winning streak.
MT. BAKER STOMPS ALL OVER THAT COLORADO TEAM: The Mt. Baker (WA) Bigfooters were looking to keep their three-game winning streak going this week, and that's just what they did. They wound up with a solid victory against Parker (CO) Wolfpack, winning 96 to 86. The result gets both squads back to a .500 record at 5 - 5.
The bottom part of Coach Carlo “Spy” Ox's draft came through for them this week. Hunter Henry scored 19 points, and the Packers DST was close behind with 15. The Packers' 15 points represent the most they've had this year.
Meanwhile, Coach Chris Reeves will find no easy scapegoat for this week's loss. The Wolfpack were brought down by six underperformers, the worst of whom was the Packers TQB (9 points). Packers have now underperformed the league average team quarterback in three straight games. Unfortunately, more bad performances might be on tap for Packers TQB, who have seen their point total drop in each of the last three weeks.
Something has to give next week when Mt. Baker and Rocky Mountain (ID) Mafia clash, as they come into the game on four- and three-game winning streaks, respectively. The Bigfooters have now been an underdog in both the last two weeks, and won both times. Maybe they'll get a bit more credit going into their next game?
Meanwhile, Parker will collide with the Yelm (WA) Yodelin' Ramthas next week. Points were in short supply for that team this week, as they could only scrounge up 62. Parker Wolfpack will come into this game a lot less confident than they would have just two weeks ago. Back then, they were on a three-game winning streak, but now go into next week's game having lost their last two.
BABIES DIG WINNING: The Western Washington Cellarbabies had never lost when Stefon Diggs overperformed his expectations, and that held true again this week. Diggsy was the key component as the Babies destroyed the Burlington (WA) Slackers 100 to 67. Diggs’ 36 points were the 2nd most of any player this week, showing that there's no such thing as good coverage against him.
The game would have been an even bigger blowout if the Babies had the Dolphins DST and their 18 points in the starting lineup. The Dolphins have been making their case to start recently, having scored 35 points over the past two weeks.
Meanwhile, Mike Davis loomed large in the loss for the Slackers, producing 1 point. That makes it seven straight games where Davis has underperformed the league average running back.
D.J. Moore has to share in some of the blame as well, coming up with 8.2 fewer points than he was expected to. Moore only managed 24 yards while his team was running roughshod over the NFC-leading Cardinals. Burlington only had one player who gave a passable performance this week, with the Raiders TQB scoring 21 points.
The win gets the Cellarbabies back to .500 with a 5-5 record. The loss makes it three in a row for Burlington, dropping the 2019 league champ to a record of 3-7.
CORGIS REDISCOVER WINNING: The Springfield (OR) Ill-Tempered Corgis put away Killarney (EU) Celtic this week 102 to 84. The win brings the Ill-Tempered Corgis' record to 6-4, while dropping Killarney Celtic to 3-7.
Justin Jefferson was the key contributor for Springfield, scoring 29 points. This is the 2nd time this year that Jefferson has led Springfield Ill-Tempered Corgis. Meanwhile, Tyler Lockett and Courtland Sutton were quite coordinated in their failures for Killarney. They each tallied just 4 points. Coach Lloyd Chandler has to be used to bad scores from Sutton, who has been the worst performer on the Celtic more times than any other player. He has now underperformed the experts' predictions in four straight games.
MAFIA LIQUIDATE RAMTHAS: Coach Chandler could have won this game with the right lineup. He started the Rams DST instead of the Colts DST, despite the experts' prediction that the Colts should have played. That decision cost Killarney 13 points. If Coach Chandler had left the Rams on the bench and also started Elijah Moore, the Celtic would be dancing a jig right now.
The Rocky Mountain (ID) Mafia put on a clinic for the Yelm (WA) Yodelin' Ramthas this week, winning 113 to 62. Blowouts are the usual for these teams these days. Rocky Mountain Mafia has been involved in two straight blowout games, while this is the 5th straight blowout game for Yelm Yodelin' Ramthas.
The victory makes it three in a row for Rocky Mountain Mafia, and gives them a record of 6-4. The loss drops Yelm Yodelin' Ramthas' record to 4-6.
CeeDee Lamb did about as good for the Mafia this week as he did bad last week. Rocky Mountain relied heavily on Lamb, who put up 28 points. With 94 receiving yards and two touchdowns, Lamb became the first Cowboy receiver to ever go for 1,500+ yards and 10+ TDs in his first 25 games.
Meanwhile, Cardinals TQB was clearly the weakest link for Coach Mark Nipper and the gang as he recorded 1 point. That's the fewest points that they've scored so far this year.
Something has to give next week when the Mafia and Bigfooters clash, as they come into the game on three and four-game winning streaks, respectively. Meanwhile, Yelm will be playing the Wolfpack. That matchup will feature the two top RB's in the league, Jonathan Taylor and Najee Harris.
RIVER RATS OUTCLASS DOMINATORS: South Everett (WA) River Rats (7-3) just outclassed Concrete (WA) Dominators (3-7) this week, earning a 97 to 72 victory. Both squads keep their momentum (or in the case of the Dominators, "nomentum") going as a result of this match. The win brings the River Rats' winning streak to four games, and the defeat puts the Dominators on a three-game losing streak.
The River Rats had several players step up in the win, as five starters beat their positional averages. Christian McCaffrey was the first among equals, racking up 25 points. That gave him the most points for South Everett for the first time this season.
Meanwhile, Falcons TQB stuck out as the worst performer for Concrete Dominators, scoring -1 points, the worst performance was also the worst of any team quarterback this season.
Next week presents an entirely different challenge for South Everett, as the top two teams in the league square off. The 9-1 Applemaggots who will be without Cooper Kupp, giving the River Rats an inside edge.
As for Concrete, they will square off against Casper next week.
AROUND THE LEAGUE: WEEK 6
The Arlington Applemaggots won their 6th in a row, while Killarney Celtic took yet another hit to the loss column. Meanwhile, Maggots Coach Brent Rowe was winning by setting a perfect lineup. Read all about it in this week's report.
WOLFPACK SACK SLACKERS: By a score of 126 to 106, the Parker (CO) Wolfpack walked away victorious over the Burlington (WA) Slackers. The win gets Parker back to .500 with a 3-3 record, and drops Burlington to 2-4.
The Wolfpack got a nice group performance in the win, as five players beat their positional averages. Tyreek Hill was the first among equals, producing 22 points. Good performances are nothing new for Hill, who has been the top Wolfpack performer more times than any other player. That's all in a day's work for the 2nd best wide receiver in the league.
Meanwhile, Chase Edmonds was the main culprit in the Slackers' loss, managing only 7 points.
Coach Dean Bradley earned his team points last week, and decided that he wanted extra points this week as well. He left the Washington Football Team TQB and their 20.5 expected points on the bench, favoring the Raiders TQB(17.6 points expected). This decision netted Coach Bradley an extra 21 points. Taking risks is par for the course for Coach Bradley, as he have been one of the more risk taking coaches in the league.
POOR DECISIONS, GOOD OUTCOMES: Coach Vince Manduchi cost his team points last week, and he did it again this week by leaving the Bengals TQB and Damien Harris on the bench in favor of the Titans TQB and Kenneth Gainwell, who were both expected to score less.
These terrible decisions shaved 46 points from the Western Washington Cellarbabies' score, which ultimately didn't make a difference in the final outcome as they slid by Mt. Baker (WA) Bigfooters (1-5), winning 83 to 76.
The Cellarbabies were led by the trio of Stefon Diggs, Tyler Bass, and James Robinson, who combined for 67% of their team's points. That makes it four straight games of overperforming expectations for Robinson.
Meanwhile, the Bigfooters can place the blame for this loss squarely on Myles Gaskin, who scored only 2 points. Gaskin got a similar number of carries plus touches this week (11) as last week (15), but just didn't do anything with them.
Next week will see Mt. Baker taking on the 3-3 Dallas Cougars. Meanwhile, los Cellarbabies will be playing Yelm Yodelin' Ramthas.
BUSINESS AS USUAL FOR APPLEMAGGOTS: 'The thrill is gone' -- at least when it comes to the Arlington (WA) Applemaggots' recent games. The previous two games were blowouts, and this week's action was no different, as the Applemaggots made it look easy against Killarney (EU) Celtic, winning 135 to 85.
With the win, Arlington continues their six-game streak of success, which gives them a 6-0 record. The defeat is the 4th in a row for Killarney, and puts their record at 2-4.
Cooper Kupp was the key contributor for Arlington, racking up 40 points. That was the 3rd most of any player this week. No wide receiver in NFL history has put up the stats he has over his first six games.
Meanwhile, The Giants TQB was clearly the weakest link for Coach Lloyd Chandler and the gang as he recorded 3 points. That performance was worse than every other player this week.
Next week will see Arlington taking on the 3-3 Vermillion Nipplemen. The Nipplemen will come into the game with some momentum, having posted back-to-back 125+ point games. The game will feature the league's top two players, as the Applemaggots' Kupp faces off against lead Nippleman Derrick Henry.
Meanwhile, someone will finally get relief when the Celtic and Concrete Dominators clash, as they come into the game on four- and three-game losing streaks, respectively. Killarney will have to play without Austin Ekeler, who has a bye week next week.
YODELIN' OVER THE FETID CORPSES OF TEAM DALLAS: Coming into the game, the Dallas (TX) Cougars had scored the fewest points of any team over the last three weeks. Coach Alan Wooten's squad put up a solid number of points this week though, but that wasn't enough. The Cougars ended up pretty far behind in this one, losing 138 to 106 to Yelm (WA) Yodelin' Ramthas. The game evens up both teams' records at 3-3.
The Yodelin' Ramthas had several players step up in the win, as five starters beat their positional averages. Jonathan Taylor was just a bit ahead of the others, scoring 34 points. Taylor's performance early on Sunday took him from the 6th best running back to the 2nd best running back in the league. He now has the most rushing yards in the NFL over the past three weeks.
Meanwhile, two players stood out for their poor performance on Dallas Cougars, with the Patriots Defense/ST and the Colts TQB combining to score only 26 points. The Patriots have now failed to hit their expected points in any game so far this year.
On the coaching front, both sides made mistakes. Coach Wooten might have had a little too much fun last week, as he didn't set his team's lineup. He started two guaranteed zeros in Nick Chubb and Curtis Samuel. That cost their team 8 points directly (on top of the losses from bye week players), which ultimately didn't matter much this game.
Coach Mark Nipper has had the most stable lineup in the league, but that consistency wasn't helpful this week. Perhaps scared off by Odell Beckham's 4- point performance last week, Coach Nipper left him on the bench in favor of Nyheim Hines, despite the experts' prediction that Beckham should have played.
This decision took a 10 point chunk out of the Yodelin' Ramthas' final score. His lineup moves pushed him into negative territory for the season (just barely, at 1 point worse than the experts).
NIPPLEMEN GET ALL PERKY WITH VICTORY: The experts had the Vermillion (UT) Nipplemen winning this one easy. The experts were all kinds of right. Vermillion perfectly destroyed the Concrete (WA) Dominators, winning 135 to 56. That 79 point win is the biggest blowout so far this season.
The win brings the Nipplemen back to even at 3-3. The loss drops Concrete Dominators to the last spot in the West division at 2-4.
Vermillion had the good fortune of having the league's best player this week in Derrick Henry. King Henry was a one-man wrecking crew, totaling 45 points. He hasn't been messing around recently, performing better than any other starter over the last three weeks.
Meanwhile, Concrete Dominators had three stooges, with Chase Claypool, Michael Pittman, and DeVonta Smith notching 13 points. Claypool's 3 points made him the worst starter on his team for the 2nd time this season. He was targeted a decent number of times (7) but only caught two balls for 17 yards.
Coach Brent Rowe did his part in the victory, setting a perfect lineup. That took more than just following the experts' advice. He went with the Bears TQB over the higher ranked the Texans TQB.
This decision boosted Vermillion Nipplemen's final score by 9 points, which just made the final result that much more embarrassing. This is the first time this year that Coach Rowe has set a perfect lineup.
OYSTERS SHUCK MAFIA: After coming up with all of 6 points last week, Adam Thielen came up clutch this week. Thielen led the way as the Samish Bay (WA) Oysters got past Rocky Mountain (ID) Mafia without much trouble, winning 145 to 122. His 35-point performance topped all but three players this week.
The Oysters also got a big effort from Darrell Henderson (10.6 points above expected). They only had one underperfoming player, with DK Metcalf scoring just 11 points.
Meanwhile, the Mafia suffered through poor performances from the Ravens TQB, Dan Arnold, and the Broncos Defense/ST, who collectively managed only 20 points. Coach Scott Nicolino is still waiting to get one above-average week from Arnold.
Coach Nicolino certainly can't blame the loss on CeeDee Lamb, who scored 41 points. That was the most that any wide receiver collected this week.
The game leaves both teams squared up at three wins and three losses.
CORGIES HAUNT CASPER: After losing four straight games, Coaches Jeremy Church and Megan Church's squad figured, 'Why not lose another?' The Casper (WY) Friendly Ghosts just didn't have enough against Springfield (OR) Ill-Tempered Corgis, losing 97 to 91. The loss drops the Friendly Ghosts' record to 1-5, while the win brings the Ill-Tempered Corgis to 4-2.
Springfield had a three-man strike force with Dalvin Cook, Greg Zuerlein, and the Cowboys Defense/ST combining for 55 points. After the Cowboys' performance this week, they moved up to being the 3rd best Defense/ST in the league.
Meanwhile, Antonio Gibson stuck out as the worst performer for the Friendly Ghosts, dropping only 4 points. That's the fewest points that he's scored so far this year. His performance this week definitively broke his three game streak of surpassing his projections.
The Church coaching duo have to place a big part of the blame for this loss on themselves. They started the Jaguars TQB instead of the Dolphins TQB, despite the experts' prediction that Dolphins should have played.
This decision cost the Ghosts a total of 9 points, which cost them the game, and marks the first time this year that Coaches Jeremy Church and Megan Church's decisions have cost their team points.
NEWPORT GETS LUCKY ... AGAIN: The Newport (WA) Chairlift Whisperers came into this game with a five-game winning streak. They left with six. Coach Mike Wasem's boys got past a far-superior South Everett (WA) River Rats, winning 113 to 103. The win brings the Chairlift Whisperers' record to a perfect 6-0, while dropping the River Rats to 3-3.
Newport got three solid performances this week, courtesy of Antonio Brown, Travis Kelce, and the Eagles TQB, who together notched 67 points. No surprise there, as Kelce is currently the best tight end in the league.
Meanwhile, Coach Jim Pinkney can blame the loss on Tyler Boyd, Mike Evans, and the Steelers TQB, who together scored only 18 points. Steelers might be heading back to the waiver wire after getting picked up before this game.
Newport will face off against the Friendly Ghosts next week, an opportunity to face a team in the midst of a five-game losing streak (the smart money is on the Ghosts).
As for the River Rats, they will square off against the Ill-Tempered Corgis, who will not have Mike Williams available to start in that contest.
WBFL POWER RANKINGS AND WEEK 4 RECAP
The Arlington Applemaggots are back at the top of the WBFL power rankings after a one-week hiatus. They stomped all over the Samish Bay Oysters 136 to 90, and the Applemaggots are now sitting pretty at the top of every component of the league's power rankings.

2. Newport Chairlift Whisperers
3. Rocky Mountain Mafia
4. Springfield Ill-Tempered Corgis

AROUND THE LEAGUE - WEEK 4
The Arlington Applemaggots won their 4th in a row, while the Mt. Baker Bigfooters took yet another hit to the loss column. We also share other interesting news, such as the Springfield Ill-Tempered Corgis' first loss of the season.
NEWPORT STILL UNDEFEATED: In a week that featured three blowouts, this was the biggest. The Newport (WA) Chairlift Whisperers crushed the Mt. Baker (WA) Bigfooters 149 to 99. The 149 points that Newport dropped were the most they scored so far this year.
With the win, they moved to 4-0, good for the top spot in the East division. This loss brings the Bigfooters' losing streak to four in a row, dropping their record to 0 - 4.
Newport made a big statement during Sunday's main action. Deebo Samuel drove the bus, scoring 45 points, which were the 2nd most of any player this week. Team Chairlift also got a big effort from Saquon Barkley (18.6 points above expected).
Meanwhile, the Bigfooters were having a so-so performance. Trey Sermon and Allen Robinson both did poorly, together coming up with 17 points. Robinson has now failed to hit his expected points in any game so far this year.
Going into Sunday night's game, Mt. Baker was already a long shot to win. After the Buccaneers quarterbacks scored only 10 points it was all she wrote.
WOLFPACK UH, DOMINATE DOMINATORS: This game was expected to be close. The Parker (CO) Wolfpack found those expectations insulting. They gave Concrete (WA) Dominators a 144 to 108 drubbing. The win is part of a larger trend for Parker: In each of the last three weeks they have scored more points than the week before.
The result gets both squads back to a .500 record at 2-2.
Two of the key players in this fight were real-life teammates, as the Wolfpack's Brandon Aiyuk squared off against the 49ers quarterbacks. While they were on the same team, they sure didn't deliver the same result. Aiyuk disappointed with his measly 2 points for Parker. That continues a theme for Aiyuk, who is yet to top the average wide receiver's point total in any week so far.
Meanwhile the 49ers quarterbacks kept pace with a 43-point effort for Coaches Chris Smith and Sarah Van aken. 49ers have now exceeded their points expectations in every game so far this year.
With Aiyuk failing to come through, it was up to the rest of the boys on Parker Wolfpack. They answered the call, scoring 142 points. That group was led by Tyreek Hill, who scored 55 points. No other player scored more points than that this week.
BABIES PACK RATS: The Western Washington Cellarbabies put away South Everett (WA) River Rats this week 122 to 105. Both teams now sit at two wins and two losses for the season.
The Cellarbabies won with a balanced effort, as five players outperformed their positional averages. Jared Cook was the best of the bunch, delivering 19 points.
Meanwhile, South Everett had a very balanced lineup, but it was balanced at too low of a level. Tyler Boyd paced the team by beating the average wide receiver by 10.9 points, while Chuba Hubbard (7.2 points worse than the average running back) was the worst on the team. Hubbard has yet to give South Everett River Rats even one week of above average running back play this season.
Coach Vince Manduchi has made some poor lineup calls this week, but that's nothing new for one of the league's bottom-ranked coaches. He left the Bengals quarterbacks and their 24.7 expected points on the bench, favoring the Titans quarterbacks (20.1 points expected).
This decision cost the Cellarbabies a total of 11 points, which ultimately didn't make a difference in the final outcome. Coach Manduchi has now cost his team points in both of the last two weeks.
SLACKERS PIERCE NIPPLEMEN: It's looking like we were far too generous when evaluating the Vermillion (UT) Nipplemen's prospects this season. This is apparent after another loss, this one to the Burlington (WA) Slackers, 115 to 99.
The loss drops the Nipplemen to 1-3, well short of where we expected the team with the best draft to be at this point of the season. The win gets the Slackers back to .500 with a 2-2 record.
The Slackers, who were a 9-point underdog coming into the game, put together a solid Sunday. They were powered by D.J. Moore, who scored 37 points. Moore made himself available in the blue painted area and it paid off with this touchdown catch and six points for the Panthers.
Meanwhile, Coach Brent Rowe's squad just couldn't quite get it going. The Bears quarterbacks kept the scoreboard operator relaxed, coming up with only 6 points. Coach Rowe has to be used to bad scores from Bears, who have been the worst performer for the Nipplemen more times than any other player.
Going into Monday night, the Nipplemen were in a really tough spot. Coach Rowe needed Darren Waller to outscore the Raiders quarterbacks by 14 points. Raiders had a bad outing, scoring 17 points, giving Vermillion a real chance to win. Waller gave it a good effort, but his 15 points weren't nearly enough.
APPLEMAGGOTS STAY PERFECT: Coming into the game, the Arlington (WA) Applemaggots (4-0) had scored the most points of any team this season, and they kept that momentum going. Coach Mitch Rorick's squad destroyed the Samish Bay (WA) Oysters (1-3), winning 136 to 90. With the win and those 136 points, the Applemaggots now sit at the top of every component in the CBS power rankings.
The game leaves both these teams streaking in opposite directions: the Applemaggots' winning streak to four games, and Team Bivalve losing stream to three games.
Terry McLaurin was the clear leader for the Applemaggots this week, notching 36 points. Meanwhile, Coach John Abenroth put Cole Beasley into the Oysters' lineup for the first time this week, but Beasley might want to keep his bench warming pants clean. He was the worst of six underperformers, producing 3 points.
Coach Rorick has had the most stable lineup in the league, and this week that stability paid off. He followed the experts' advice for each position and ended up with a perfect lineup. He has now set the most perfect lineups of anyone in the league.
HE KNOWS A GUY WHO KNOWS A GUY, CAPEESH? Coach Scott Nicolino's gameday decisions have been the best in the league so far this season, and his brilliance was on display again this week. He started Ezekiel Elliott instead of Brandin Cooks, despite the experts' prediction that Cooks should have played.
This decision netted Coach Nicolino an extra 17 points, as his Rocky Mountain (ID) Mafia (2-2) wound up with a solid victory against Killarney (EU) Celtic (2-2), winning 123 to 106.
The Mafia had two main stars in David Montgomery and Zeke, who together put up 54 points. That makes it three straight games of overperforming expectations for Elliott. He absolutely feasted all afternoon, accumulating 143 yards on the ground and a touchdown on 20 carries.
The only real damper on the Mafia's victory came from CeeDee Lamb, who scored 3 points. Unfortunately, more bad performances might be on tap for Lamb, who has seen his point total drop in each of the last three weeks.
Meanwhile, Coach Lloyd Chandler will find no easy scapegoat for this week's loss. The Celtic had five underperformers, with Tyler Lockett (6 points) being the worst. Killarney was also hurt by the 4th straight game that the Rams Defense/ST have failed to exceed their expected points.
SPRINGFIELD STUMBLES: The Springfield (OR) Ill-Tempered Corgis came into this week's match-up on a three-game win streak, but the Dallas (TX) Cougars put an end to that, winning 95 to 77. The Cougars picked up a lucky win, given that their score topped only two other teams this week.
The win brings Dallas back to even at 2-2. The loss is the first of the season for Springfield, dropping their record to 3-1.
Three players (Kenny Golladay, Noah Fant, and Nick Chubb) delivered victory to Dallas, getting 56 of their team's 95 points. Meanwhile, the loss for Springfield came down to a pretty simple factor: they didn't go anywhere. Collectively, they only managed to gain 209 yards rushing and receiving. That's the worst result that any team this season has had in the total yards category.
The East division lead will be at stake this when the Ill-Tempered Corgis takes on the undefeated Newport Chairlift Whisperers and their handsome head coach, Mike Wasem. As for the Cougars, they will square off against smoking hot Cellarbabies.
I'M A RAMTHA, YOU'RE A RAMTHA, WOULDN'T YOU WANT TO BE A RAMTHA TOO? The Yelm (WA) Yodelin' Ramthas earned a pretty comfortable victory over the Casper (WY) Friendly Ghosts, winning 123 to 91. The win evens up Yelm's record at 2-2, while the loss drops Casper Fto 1-3.
The Bills Defense/ST was the key contributor for the Yodelin' Ramthas, scoring 25 points. The Bills topped all Defense/STs this week with that performance. Their performance was also the 2nd best of any Defense/ST this season.
Meanwhile, it will be difficult for Coaches Jeremy Church and Megan Church to fault any one player for the loss. Without the machismo and swagger of Gardner Minshew, Jaguars quarterbacks was the worst of a four-man group of underperformers on the Friendly Ghosts, tallying only 17 points. Bad performances are pretty common these days for Jaguars, who have now underperformed the experts' predictions in three straight games.
The Yodelin' Ramthas will be going against Mt. Baker Bigfooters next week, who will come into the game looking for their first win. As for the Friendly Ghosts, they will match up with the South Everett River Rats.
