Dear friends,
It is with a grateful heart that I prepare to step down from my position as Executive Director from the National Veterans Wellness & Healing Center on June 30, 2023. The last 7 years have been full of experiences that I will take with me and cherish for the rest of my life. When Markus and I arrived here in 2016, we could never have imagined the journey we would embark upon. Afforded with the opportunity to attend an NVWHC retreat as participants, we immediately sensed our lives were about to change. The individuals and experiences at the retreat shifted something great inside of us that made us long to give back. On a leap of faith, we moved to Angel Fire not fully understanding what our mission would become, but ready to face it head on together.
Over the years, we have poured our hearts and souls into this organization and those we have been blessed to work with and alongside of. Markus and I have stayed incredibly busy conducting retreats, hosting fundraisers, going on state-wide outreaches, managing the day-to-day needs of the organization, and attending more board meetings than I can count.
The most precious part of our time here has been working with hundreds of veterans and their partners to help them learn how to overcome their trauma and to live their best lives. The undeniably talented retreat staff have become an extension of our own family whom we love and admire. The skills they possess and share wholeheartedly with each client and retreat participant they encounter is a blessing to witness. Markus and I could not do what we do without such an incredibly dedicated team. That is why we are not leaving for good!
NVWHC has contracted our personal business, JMP Unlimited, LLC to plan, recruit, promote and facilitate the retreats. Allowing us to branch out in other areas of our life, the freedom to be closer to our precious family, while continuing to be of service to our veterans and their partners. This plan serves us best for now.
It has been a great honor to serve this organization as Executive Director. I have gained more knowledge and healed more of myself in the last 7 years than I could have ever dreamed of. My heart overflows with gratitude! Thank you all for trusting me and allowing me to lead this organization while also discovering a better version of myself along the way.
As Retreat Coordinator, I can be reached at 505-501-8337. My new email address is [email protected].
Thank you for your love and support over the years.
With gratitude,
Janice R. Podell
